Klipsch The Three II earns some credit here for delivering a bit of stereo sound, even if the listener has to be pretty close to the device to perceive it.

At nominal volumes, the Klipsch device is a solid performer with a pleasingly rich low end and an accurate and clear high-end, and it’s also very strong on dynamics. Although this type of tonal balance is not exactly flat, in the sense of having good representation through the range of frequencies, it is not at all unpleasant when listening to music at a nominal level. If you are hoping for a presentation chock full of midrange emphasis but decidedly anaemic at the frequency extremes, you’ll have to go elsewhere. Our artifacts tests measure how much source audio is distorted when played back, along with such other sound artifacts as noise, pumping effects, and clipping. This isn’t too much of a surprise in that fitting a horn loaded assembly to a cabinet this size is going to eat a great deal of the relatively limited amount of space available and given that there are no dedicated tweeters in there, the horn would have to adopt full range characteristics.Friends who had the opportunity to listen to this device asked the same question: “Where did you hide the subwoofer? The Klipsch The Three II is a bit of a throwback in many regards, starting with the old-school RCA inputs on the back.

It struggles to reproduce low-bass, so you can't feel the deep thump and rumble in bass-heavy music like hip-hop, and there isn't a graphic EQ or presets you can use to tweak its sound to your liking. Most of the turntables that are likely to be connected directly to the Klipsch will have a phono stage in already but it does at least serve to differentiate the Klipsch from almost everything else.

DXOMARK timbre tests measure how well a speaker reproduces sound across the audible tonal range and takes into account bass, midrange, treble, tonal balance, and volume dependency.
