About this deal

Overall the book does a good job in the end by proving practical steps everyone can take including using metal water bottles, not heating meals in plastic containers, etc. Persistent chemical pollutants in our households, air, oceans, drinking water and food supply are having measurable effects on our ability to reproduce. It's easily one of the most acute and relevant books for everyone especially 18, 19 year old and twentysomething men and women, everyone who wants to have children at one day, every thought leader, business leader, politician, policy maker and judges. I sincerely hope that everyone reads Count Down—the younger the better—so that they'll have the chance to preserve their fertility. This is a must read for everyone, not just those wanting to start a family and having issues with infertility.

The most obvious impact is that fertility rates are not only plummeting because couples are choosing to have children later in life and women are empowered to prioritize careers but also because when they DO try to have children later in their life, it is harder than it would have been at that age just 30 years ago.Sadly, the author spent roughly an eighth of the book speculating without any evidence one way or the other. I previously assumed this phenomenon was largely (or even exclusively) the result of social contagion (i. Swan argues these explanations are insufficient, controlling for these and other variables to establish that for generations American women have seen steep declines in fertility. The CIA's highly classified Special Activities Division is in the business of tracking people down and keeping secrets hidden.

In our shampoos, hair and skin products, electronics, water bottles, baby toys, fire retardants (couches, chairs), canned foods, and food linings. Engagingly explaining the science and repercussions of these worldwide threats and providing simple and practical guidelines for effectively avoiding chemical goods (from water bottles to shaving cream) both as individuals and societies, Count Down is “staggering in its findings” (Erin Brockovich, The Guardian) and “will serve as an awakening” ( The New York Times Book Review ).

Seriously, if you’ve read any credible article on the subject in recent years you already know everything this book can teach you.
