About this deal

Auto-tuning works well and had no problem finding all the available channels and radio stations. The 8-day programme guide is core to the functioning of the PVR and is populated with information being broadcast, although it seems to go through this process each time it starts, so you don’t have instant access to the full EPG, which can be a pain and slow you down if you want to set-up a recording as you fly out of the door. Not sure on lights but basically, green light is on red is off and red light and green light at the same time means it's recording something. I think. We recognise this has regrettably caused frustration and problems for some of our PVR-9300T and PVR-9150T users, and in particular those with the older PVR-9200T models." A minor point is the Series Link feature. You can only have this if you also have Accurate Recording switched on. If you decide to use Auto padding (ie start recording a few minutes early and continue past the end) then Series Link is turned off. Have a problem with your product and don't know what's wrong? If you are interested the post here lists the data I got comparing my Humax 9200 with a Vestel PVR. The installation process isquite straightforward but ratherslow. The PVR searches out available stations before allowing you to delete those that hold no interest -- and you'll probably find there's quite a few of those on Freeview. I live in N.Wales which is undergoing transmission problems, but this has been occuring for days now.Go into the settings and make sure the unit is set to auto update so you don't miss the next over the air software patch. Now my 9150T is working like a goodun can I just remove the 160gig hard drive and replace it with a 500gig sarta drive and just format it, at the moment the hard drive is empty it would be a great time to make it better The PVR's user interface has all the graphical charm of an NES platformer, which we quite like, in a retro way. The machine is pretty user-friendly so evenconfirmed technophobes will feel quite at home with its operating logic, after learning its foibles. Features Select a programme and press the YELLOW button to trim the recorded programme. You can trim the recorded programme using the following functions. Note: You can trim recorded TV (Video) channels only.

The hard drive is a relatively modest 160GB, equating to around 100 hours of standard-def TV. Go easy on the season linking because this PVR will fill up fast. I'm suspecting an internal battery may have gone as this seems to fit the behaviour, but I'm surprised upcoming programs would be stored in memory and not on the drive? I'm reasonably computer savvy, just wanting to preempt any problems before I hit them, so any advice is welcome.I am not aware than anyone else has posted any detailed quantitative data on there results or reported direct comparison with the same recordings on different PVRs. It would be interesting to see such comparisons. OK, my Humax is still hopping and skipping so I thought I'd try a full format. I'm thinking of this adapter, is it OK? Does the Humax store its upcoming shows in flash memory, which is being lost when the power is turned off, or does it store them on the hard drive? Thanks for replying. I found a thread on DS about the 9300 which has the same problem but there was an interesting post which claimed that it was noted that the cooling fan was not operating and after replacing the fan it fixed the problem:

One key aspect of any PVR is its operational noise. The good news is that this standard-def diva doesn't raise the roof. There's an onboard fan but it's whisper-quiet. Thanks for that. I've had a look at the adapters you mentioned. Now to decide whether to go that route or just buy another PVR. Also, do I simply remove, reformat and replace the drive, power up, reset to factory settings and go from there or do I somehow need to restore some software? E.g. where is the Loader stored? If on the disk, how do I restore it? The upgrades will automatically take place on all PVR-9200T and PVR9300T models on the following dates, as long as they are in standby mode overnight: So would I expect my drive, when formatted by my laptop and then reinstalled, to be formatted again in the Humax? (I realise that the formatting done is different when done in the PVR).

Actually there are several members of the fair sex on here who are clued up on PVR technology and like ourselves have seen a good part of the 20th century. There are three varieties of what people call the skipping problem. Doing a "Humax" format will help with one of them. MoneySavingExpert.com is part of the MoneySuperMarket Group, but is entirely editorially independent. Its stance of putting consumers first is protected and enshrined in the legally-binding MSE Editorial Code. I've only ever used standard drives as upgrades and never had a problem. The CE or AV drives are cheaper to manufacture as they don't have the same error correction and are generally slower and have less cache. Ironically they tend to be more expensive retail and at one time it was difficult to get hold of them. The PVR-9510T has two standard-definition Freeview tuners, allowing two different channels to be recorded simultaneously. Recordings are made via the electronic programme guide or directly from a live transmission. You can adjust the start and stop times, and record either single programmes or an entire series. If I find a way to connect it up to a PC and do a full format (I only have a 'family' laptop myself and don't want to start messing with that), is there any particular type of format that's required?
