About this deal

When I’m in the jungle, I usually out there for hours at a time, looking for birds, monkeys, reptiles and amphibians. Jungle boots have become more of a fashionable thing than what they were originally meant for. Whether creating a fashion statement or not, a hiker, hunter military person or mountain trekker needs to be well protected against any elements that could seriously affect his or her performance while undertaking outdoor activities. What great way to protect oneself than to have a pair of the best jungle boots? In 1942, fused layers of original-specification Saran or PVDC were used to make woven mesh ventilating insoles for newly developed jungle boots made of rubber and canvas. [1] [2] [3] The Saran ventilating insoles trapped air which was circulated throughout the interior of the boot during the act of walking; moist interior air was exchanged for outside air via the boot's water drain eyelets. [1] In cold weather, the trapped air in Saran insoles kept feet from freezing by insulating them from the frozen ground; when walking, the insoles circulated moist air that would otherwise condense and freeze, causing trench foot or frostbite. [1] I’ve included a pair of tactical shoes on the jungle boots list because these are still well-suited for jungle environments, but only if the trails you are using aren’t bogged down with mud.

In 1944, the Panama sole developed by Raymond Dobie used angled lugs to push soft mud from the soles, clearing them to provide better grip in greasy clay or mud. [1] However, M-1942 (Jungle) and M-1945 (Combat Boot, Tropical) boots used Vibram soles. [6] [7] After the conclusion of World War II, American interest in jungle equipment lay dormant until their next tropical engagement in 1965, so an improved jungle boot used Dobie's Panama sole. [1] [7] Jungle boots, therefore, are, by definition, designed not to be entirely waterproof but rather water-resistant up to a point and then water-expelling while remaining breathable. The idea is that the design should be airy so that feet will dry faster while incorporating purge technology that gets rid of moisture. Post-Vietnam jungle boot designs [ edit ] Terra Australian Boots for use in jungle and desert conditions. Imagine you have your boots on or any other kind of shoes and they keep penetrating water through? Won’t that make you uncomfortable? While on a camp, you will want to feel dry and comfortable in your feet. A good pair of boots would make all the difference towards ensuring your feet are warm even when walking on cold and wet surfaces. Kearny, Cresson H. (Maj), Jungle SNAFU...And Remedies, Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (1996), p. 179Although taller, British military forces used a variant of the American jungle boot. Special Operations Executive Force 136 personnel were issued these boots during operations in Burma 1944–45. They were later used in the Malayan Emergency. [8] The First Indochina War [ edit ] With Daily Shoes Military Boots you can walk on any type of surface and terrain as they are ruggedly crafted. The rubber sole that is slip resistant has a unique traction grip that make sure you remain on your feet regardless of the terrain you are walking on. You can put them on a daily basis not just for an outdoor activity. The new M-1942 canvas-and-rubber jungle boots with Saran mesh insoles were tested by experimental Army units in jungle exercises in Panama, Venezuela, and other countries, where they were found to increase the flow of dry outside air to the insole and base of the foot, reducing blisters and tropical ulcers. [1] [3] The Saran ventilating mesh insole was also used in the M-1945 tropical combat boot. [1] [2] World War II [ edit ] The next important step after purchasing your jungle boots is trying them on, making sure they fit correctly, and breaking them in. Please do this at least one month before the start of the course. The best jungle boot can turn into an evil form of torture if you don’t break them in properly. One good rule of thumb is to buy boots one size bigger than your normal size. Some brands run small, and also your feet get swollen with the exercise, so try to account for that by going one size bigger.

Just because the S2V was designed with comfort in mind doesn’t mean that these jungle boots are less robust or up to the task in hot, humid, muddy environments. They are still engineered with 1000 denier CORDURA heavy-duty nylon, have been treated with PTFE for flame resistance (not that you need that in the jungle) and flash and water-resistant leather. Specs Weight: a b Wood, Clyde E., Mud: A Military History, Washington, D.C.: Potomac Books, Inc., ISBN 1574889842 (2006) p. 106 Jungle boots are a type of combat boots that are designed especially for use in the jungle warfare or in surroundings that are hot, wet and humid where ordinary leather combat boots or any particular kind of shoes would not be suitable or comfortable to have on. While they have since become high fashion (especially for women), jungle boots first came about during the 1940s and were, above all, practical. Unlike other ordinary footwear, jungle boots come with ventilation holes on their upper surfaces and sides. These ventilation holes greatly help in ventilation as well as in the drainage of moisture.Generally lighter boots are more comfortable although others of various weights could also work with regards to the environment. The lighter your jungle boots, the less energy you use while walking. Most boots that are heavier have emphasis on stability, durability and ankle protection. Features: This jungle boot is a full grain leather upper with a synthetic sole. Made for women and imported, the 8- Eye patent leather boot is smooth, durable and has a smooth finish. The durability is owed to the fact that the boot is made with GoodYear welt, with the upper and sole heat- sealed and sewn together. It has an air cushion sole that is oil and fat resistant thus offering great abrasion and slip resistance
