Civilian Members of the few approved categories who qualify for Campaign Stars will be eligible so long as they met any qualifying criteria while they served in support of military operations. [18] [20]

Types of medals

The Long Service and Good Conduct ( LSGC) Medal for the Royal Air Force is awarded to personnel in recognition of long service. The regulations were updated on 1 October 2016. Current serving personnel should not wear relative’s medals or unofficial medals whilst wearing uniform.

Army personnel who served on His Majesty's ships or in defensively equipped merchant ships qualify under the rules applying to the Navy or Merchant Navy. Personnel who took part in land operations north of the Arctic Circle are also eligible for award. Bill served around the world during the Second World War and received five campaign medals, the 1939-1945 Star with Battle of Britain clasp, Aircrew Europe Star with Atlantic clasp, Africa Star with North Africa 1942-43 clasp, Burma Star with Pacific clasp and the Italy Star. The maximum number of Campaign Stars any one person can receive is six. It should be noted that all those that received a campaign medal, also received the War Medal.
