About this deal

It’s an interesting proposition, but there’s no point adding smart features if the underlying fan isn’t up to it. We were keen to put it through its paces. Design & Features The fan head requires simple assembly, with the front cover secured by a single screw. Inside the plastic cage there’s a unique blade design with distinct inner and outer zones. The outer ring contains nine stubby blades, whereas the inner circle has seven, so long that they almost overlap. Choose from 26 adjustable speeds and multiple modes. In natural wind mode, wind speeds are alternated to simulate real wind. Night mode ensures a good night’s sleep thanks to minimal noise production and the automatically dimmed screen.

Both of these things are great, as they mean you’re getting a powerful but unobtrusive fan that can easily sit in the corner of your room and won’t overpower conversation or late-night TV watching!

For a start, the Whisper Flex Smart has no fewer than 26 different speeds, and the sleep timer works in one-hour increments up to 12 hours. There’s about 90 degrees each of horizontal and vertical oscillation, too – you can switch them on independently or together. Thirdly, the 'natural wind' mode deserves a mention of its own. It may sound trivial, but if you're sat directly in front of a fan during a heatwave, then the subtle variation in the airflow that mimics a natural breeze is far less tiring to have cooling your skin than the constant blast of a non-variable airflow. The second pedestal fan on our list, the Duux Whisper Flex differentiates itself by the internal battery, which lets this fan operate for up to 18 hours without being plugged into the mains. You'll also need to set up the fan's remote control. First, you need to slide out the battery compartment – you need to depress the button on the base to do this which isn’t mentioned in the instructions – and then slot in the battery aligning the positive polarity with the + symbol on the remote. The instructions don’t say which way up to put the battery in, so I hazarded a guess and slid the battery tray shut. Meet the whisper-quiet Duux fan that surprises you with a soft breeze, a strong gust of wind and everything in between. The Duux Whisper has no fewer than 26 settings. This way you always find the perfect air flow strength. What\’s really nice: it doesn\’t matter where you are in the room, because it brings a pleasant coolness everywhere thanks to the horizontal and vertical oscillating function.

Whisper Flex: the first design fan with the option to make it completely wireless. Thanks to the free smartphone app and optional battery, you can use this fan anywhere and take it with you; For example, to your bedroom or that place in your garden where you like to read a book. It is adjustable in height and transforms effortlessly from table to floor model due to the horizontal and vertical swing. And the best part? It’s whisper-quiet, so you can focus on that one book or go to sleep peacefully. Connect this fan to your wireless network, install the Duux app, and you gain control over all its functions from a smartphone. That’s handy if you lose the supplied remote. It also comes with support for smart assistants such as Alexa, meaning you can control the fan by voice from anywhere in the world. Add in options such as Google Assistant routines, and this is a fan you can truly integrate with your other smart home equipment. Then its time to fit the fan to the base, this slots on easily as long as you make sure to align the larger of the two pins in the motor with the largest of the holes on the base plate.

The Whisper Flex is an all-rounder. It has 26 modes, is energy efficient and has a powerful motor with dual fan blades. In addition, thanks to the horizontal and vertical swing, the wind blows in all directions. And all this with minimal noise production.

The Whisper lives up to its name and is one of the quietest fans of its kind. The little sound that is produced is reminiscent of the wind you hear rustling outside. If you want, the Whisper switches itself between different wind speeds and airflow directions. The height is adjustable and the fan rotates left and right as well as up and down. This way, the cool air is evenly distributed throughout the room. The Princess smart fan can either heat your room or cool it down depending on what you need, which is great for countries where the temperature drops down during the night and you need a little extra warmth. As for power consumption, the Whisper Flex consumes around 28.5W at full power and just 3.5W at its lowest setting. Again, you’ll struggle to find a more frugal pedestal fan, though the Meaco 1056P manages to push a little more air for fewer Watts. Choose from 26 adjustable speeds and multiple modes. Night mode ensures a good night\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s sleep thanks to minimal noise production and the automatically dimmed screen.Like the Meacofan 1056, the Whisper Flex Smart produces a consistent and reasonably focused column of air. At the minimum speed, we measured this at 1.9 metres per second (m/s) from 15cm, falling to 1.5m/s at one metre. At full speed, this rose to a mighty 5.8m/s at 15cm and 4.4m/s one metre away. Even at two metres, we still recorded a blowy 3.3m/s – even more than we measured from the Meacofan. On the downside, it’s one of the more expensive fans and if you don’t need one that will heat as well, you could save money with one of the others on our list. Until… one day I entered a metropolitan gallery for some “eye candy” of the cultural variety and was almost immediately surprised by a pleasant draft of air. I heard nothing and tried to locate the source. Where most fans only offer 1, 2 or 3 different wind speeds, the Whisper has no less than 26. This way you determine exactly how hard the wind blows through space.

While most fans only offer 1, 2 or 3 different wind speeds, the Whisper has no fewer than 26. This way you determine exactly how hard the wind blows through the room. The square tower design is sleek and modern, standing at just over a meter tall, with a silver body. The base is reasonably wide, which keeps it stable, but does take up a reasonable chunk of floor space. So why is this not our top choice, because this is basically the best-bladed fan on the list? Simple. Price. Typical for this fan is the enormous power. A strong stream of cool air is easily blown up to 15 meters away. Ideal if you want to cool a somewhat larger room. You can simply control the Whisper from your seat, with the handy remote control. Choose which mode you like best: one speed, \’natural wind\’ or, for example, the night mode where you are lulled to sleep by the whooshing of the wind. You have four different heat settings and 10 speeds. Despite its slim appearance, you can heat or cool spaces up to around 50m square.I walked towards it curiously. Duux mentioned the white base as well as a digital circle with 11 on it and some other symbols. I still heard nothing except the cooling wind. First is the money-saving aspect. Smart fans can save you a lot of money, especially if you’re currently using air conditioning, but even if you’re not and relying on conventional fans.
