Last month, Hyram Yarbro — self-taught skin-care expert and influencer with 12 million followers on TikTok — announced the launch of his new skin-care brand, Selfless by Hyram. In partnership with The Inkey List, the aim of Selfless by Hyram is to positively impact challenges currently being faced by people and the planet — all while delivering incredible skin-care results. As of this week, the products have officially hit Sephora stores.

The key ingredients included in the Centella & Green Tea Daily Gel Cleanser are three percent centella, which helps to soothe skin; green tea, which similarly helps to calm the skin and reduce redness; and glycerin, which is well-known for being ultra-hydrating. Because this product is especially created for sensitive skin types, it's formulated without any fragrance, which can cause some irritation.The Selfless by Hyram Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum claims to even the skin's texture and tone. I got my hands on all five of the Selfless by Hyram products ahead of the launch, so read on to see what I thought of each product in the lineup. Spoiler: they're all pretty great. And on top of that, I do feel like there's a lot of greenwashing going on here. Yes, it gives to charity but the marketing all says "this skincare brand is going to change the world" and while someone could argue that this brand is good because it can compete with unethical brands...Selfless by Hyram is still creating a lot of waste and its price points and products are not competitive on the market.

The Selfless by Hyram Niacinamide & Maracujá Daily Barrier Support Moisturizer controls oil production and moisturizes the skin. What it claims: There’s no question that salicylic acid is a go-to ingredient for preventing and treating acne. It’s also an ingredient Hyram has recommended before in products like the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, which I used nightly before switching up my routine to try this line. Hyram’s iteration on a salicylic acid serum contains (ahem) 0.5% salicylic acid to unclog pores; niacinamide to control oil production; succinic acid, a naturally occurring chemical, to reduce bacteria and prevent future breakouts; and sea kelp to repair and protect the skin barrier from outside stressors and moisture loss. You’ll want to shake the bottle and apply three to five drops to the skin every morning after cleansing. The bottle contains one ounce. Thanks to its core ingredients of centella, green tea and glycerin, the formula soothed and calmed my skin, while prepping it for the next steps of my skincare routine. I truly said goodbye to redness and hello to hydrated skin. My face didn’t feel dry or irritated at all. It seems as though you would have to choose between these two products, but you can use the Salicylic Acid & Sea Kelp alongside them, as long as you’re only using it in the morning per instructions. To me, even being a skincare fanatic, it feels like too many products to have in my routine, even choosing between the retinol and mandelic acid serums.
