About this deal

The Celestron NexStar 6SE Telescope has 20% more power than the 5SE model and a whopping 50% more power than the 4SE model.

Having used this telescope for over a year, I have been able to capture some outstanding images of celestial objects – including some pretty impressive pictures of Saturn. The Celestron NexStar 6SE is an excellent telescope for observing virtually anything in the night sky. Once you’ve leveled it, aligned it, focused it, and got to know its GoTo system the Celestron NexStar 6SE delivers hit after hit. Once you press enter, the mount will automatically turn the telescope to the right spot in the sky. 4. However, despite being hugely impressive from an optical point of view, its NexStar+ hand controller is beginning to look a bit old-fashioned and clunky compared to how more modern ‘smart’ telescopes work. For now, it’s a classic telescope worthy of investing in, but it won’t be too long before its high price will be difficult to justify when there are even easier-to-use alternatives to choose from. Celestron NexStar 6SE review: alternatives to consider The NexStar 6SE uses high quality optics to prevent distortions and keep the image sharp, whether you are looking at the moon’s surface or the Andromeda galaxy. You’ll need to first align the system before you can use it. It comes with two tools to help you do it: the SkyAlign that’s accessible on the control pad and a finderscope attached to the telescope.

Place the new CR-2032 battery, positive (+) side up, under the two copper battery clips at the front of the battery compartment. The difference here is that the Celestron NexStar 6SE Telescope is a Schmidt-Cassegrain design and not a pure reflector. What this means that it can support a more average focal ratio even as the aperture size gets larger. If you are looking to get the most ability out of a NexStar telescope without getting too massive, then the 6SE is the telescope you need to be considering. If you want to go even bigger than the Celestron NexStar 6SE’s 6-inch aperture, the most cost-effective way is to go for a Dobsonian design like the Celestron StarSense Explorer, which comes in 8-inch and 10-inch variants. It’s a completely manual telescope but comes with Celestron’s much more modern StarSense technology, which uses an app as a guide but requires a smartphone to be perched on an attached holder.

What are you buying?

I highly recommend this telescope, have been thoroughly impressed with my observations since using it, and look forward to many years ahead with it by my side. Pricing and Where to Buy Neptune– A near-stellar blue dot. Its largest moon Triton can just barely be glimpsed under dark and steady skies.

GPS Accessory, that comes with extra cost, required if you do not want to enter your local time, date and location with each new use. For planetary imaging, pair your NexStar 6SE with one of our Skyris cameras. Or, experiment with wide-field deep sky astroimaging by replacing the telescope’s secondary mirror with a DSLR or astronomical CCD camera with a Fastar/HyperStar lens assembly. From your first observing session and for years to come, the NexStar SE is your trusted companion. T he Moon has a ridiculous amount of detail, with features as small as a mile visible. We could go and write paragraphs about how great the views of the Moon are with the 6SE, or arguably any decent telescope, but we couldn’t possibly do it justice, so we’ll let the views speak for themselves. It's a little like the line they use about real estate, except for astrophotography it is “Mount, mount, mount”. The 6SE is a fairly high mag scope (I have an 8SE). They work well for planetary and lunar close ups. Doing much for fainter objects requires longer exposures. Longer exposure requires very stable guiding and an EQ mount. Things you will likely want/need are: So this makes this telescope great for looking at specific distant objects and can show you some truly stunning details that other telescopes just can’t see.If I were to start all over I would get the mount, reducer, the Powermate, and one of the new ASI planetary cameras with zero amp glow.
