Thanks to Bluetooth V3.0, the LX-B4FM offers great audio quality for both incoming and outgoing sound. The intuitive button operations make the LX-B4FM a perfect companion for motorcycle helmets. Durable, compact, and designed to work with most helmet brands, this headset will not take up too much space in a helmet, however, the large earpads can make it uncomfortable to wear for a long period of time if you’re dealing with a full-face helmet that doesn’t have any recessed space inside that’s meant to accommodate a headset. With so many headsets flooding the market now that riding motorcycles is more popular than ever, finding a model that performs the way the manufacturer claims it can is more challenging than you’d think. But this latest headset by Lexin is a solid performer and one that’s available at a reasonable price. It features a beginner-friendly design that allows you to easily set it up and install it in a variety of helmet sizes and styles. If you’re planning a long trip with your riding buddies, then you’re probably online searching for the best motorcycle Bluetooth headset, one that offers a longer range, and a model that’s easy to use, especially for your buddies that aren’t exactly tech-savvy.

One feature I would like added is the ability to have a second blue tooth channel so my Android phone could stay connected for music, phone, GPS, etc. Still, for the price this setup is hard to beat.

You can then turn on the connections by pressing the intercom button on one of the bridges to start the bridge to bridge connection, then each end unit until all 4 intercoms are talking. You can connect with up to four other riders and discuss directions, allow other riders to listen in on GPS directions, or you can even stream the radio or your personal music collection. The conference feature also has a range of up to one mile, which will work out perfectly for most riding situations. The LX-B4FM can connect to other Bluetooth devices supporting HSP/HFP (Headset Profile/Hands Free Profile) and A2DP (Advance Audio Distribution Profile). HSP/HFP is standard in all phones with Bluetooth features. Almost all Bluetooth MP3 players, smartphones, and audio dongles support A2DP to send stereo audio to Bluetooth headsets like the LEXIN LX-B4FM. At dinner, we were talking and all concluded that this intercom does what we needed it to do, was surprisingly quiet all day, and has plenty of range. We never once lost connection other than the range test we performed.

Next, you pair one end unit to a bridge unit on one motorcycle, and repeat for the second motorcycle. These pairings are done on channel 1 and use the vol + and intercom buttons. They pair the same way as the bridges. If you’re riding with other people, then the voice conference feature can be a total lifesaver. If you’re tired of losing one or more members of your riding team due to miscommunication on the road, then the conference feature will definitely come in handy. My experience: The intercoms came in a nice box with everything I needed to do the installation, including both a boom mic and an internal mic. I started with my Shoei GT AIR. I took out the padding and the intercom installed very easily. Where I had to McGyver things was where the wires come out of the helmet to the unit, my cheek padding needed a cutout to pas the wires. So a small 1/4" channel was cut into the cheek pad plastic retained and voila, successful installation. The speakers are Velcro'd in and I used the non-boom mic they provided in my full face helmet. My wife has a 3/4 LS2, that installation was slightly more difficult as some of the internal padding cannot be removed. I had to use the boom microphone on her helmet and ended up using a bit of hot glue to keep the wires from flopping around. Make sure your helmet will be compatible with this headset before you buy. If you’re already dealing with a tight-fitting helmet, then you may need to upgrade to a model that’s specifically designed to work with a headset. Hands-Free This headset can withstand anything that mother nature throws at it and will still operate the same and keep you well-connected with other riders. The only issue you may run into is difficulty hearing your buddies on the voice conference if you’re dealing with high winds, however, this is a very common issue for most headsets. FM RadioWe've got the pairing procedure down, if nobody changes a setting then the next time we're all together it semi-automatically reconnects us all with no problems. We do have to press the intercom button to connect, it's not totally automatic. To start from scratch takes 5 minutes or less for all 4 helmets. The universal pairing feature makes the headset compatible with most types of Bluetooth earpieces and headsets on the market. The THOKWOK Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset is one of Lexin’s top competitors, and while it offers many of the same features, it has a voice conference range of just half a mile, which can be a dealbreaker for some riders. Lexin has definitely outdone itself by offering a one-mile range, which will allow you to stay connected to your friends at all times. Noise Canceling The LEXIN LX-B4FM is a Bluetooth v3.0 HiFi Stereo Headset designed specifically for motorcycles. With the LX-B4FM, you can call hands-free on your Bluetooth mobile phone, listen to the best HiFi stereo music, FM radio or voice instructions of Bluetooth enabled GPS navigation units wirelessly, and have conference intercom conversations with up to 4 riders at an intercom range of 1600 meters.

This model is versatile and able to work with other models of Bluetooth compatible headsets, all smartphones, MP3 players, and other Bluetooth devices. You may have trouble with the voice conference feature at times since it can lag and cause a type of echoing effect that will make it difficult to communicate with your fellow riders. Many models in this price range offer an average battery life of twelve hours, so I was blown away by the longer battery life of one hundred and twenty hours when the headset is in standby mode. In terms of talk time, the headset will allow you to talk for up to eight hours before the battery needs a charge. If you want to listen to music while you ride, this model offers up to fifteen hours of streaming time, which is excellent. In terms of charging time, this headset will take about one hour to fully charge. Exchangeable Mic This model allows you to communicate hands-free, for a safer riding experience. With this type of headset, you can access Siri to control the headset, search the internet, answer or forward a call, end a call, and more. It’s also compatible with S Voice for Samsung voice commands, which also allows you to receive or make calls hands-free, access FM radio, listen to music, or listen to GPS directions.
