A Nano mute retains the sound of a Harmon mute, making it easier to hear yourself play. It will still reduce volume significantly, but it will be more satisfying to the individual player. I like Yamaha because they have a silent mute. Variants of the cup mute include the mic-a-mute and the buzz-wow mute.
