With their guaranteed +/- 1.5 mm accuracy, 60m range, 5,000 measurements between battery changes, small size and fantastic range of features, the D110 and D2 are not only the cheapest of the DISTO ™range, they're also the most popular. D210 offers more advanced functionality, enhanced range and accuracy for a modest premium whilst the X310 delivers 120m range, a360 degree tilt sensor for measurement of inclines and multi-function and an auto-sensing end piece for measuring from corners and slots. The D3a BT, however, with its incredible Smart Horizontal Mode for measuring horizontal distances past physical obstacles (amongst other features) is ever popular in no small part thanks to its AutoCAD plugin. Leica Distos for Outdoor Use The D2 includes a Pythagoras function for indirect height or width measurements. However, in a tool this size that cannot be mounted to a tripod we recommend using the Pythagoras for estimates or rough measurements. If you need precise indirect measurements, an LDM with a tilt sensor is your best bet. Specifications: We are going to use the Leica DISTO™ D2 to figure out the total wall area of a room that needs to be painted. First you will have to measure the length of the walls and then you have to subtract the area of the door and window. Now with Bluetooth®, a fully integrated intelligent endpiece, a bright white display and an ISO certified measuring engine that drives 1.5mm accuracy and 100m measuring range. Whilst the outgoing model that the new D2 replaces had a manual fold-out end piece, the new Disto D2 has an automatic version. In other words, whether you're taking measurements from corners, edges or grooves within a surface, simply extending the end piece tells the Disto that you're measuring from that point. The unit automatically takes the position of the end piece into account and eliminates costly mistakes. Super compact but durable

The D810 Touch was, until recently, the king of laser measures delivering a previously unseen level of functionality. The first laser measure in the world with a touch screen, the D810 has only recently been surpassed by another model in the Leica range - the S910. With the D810 customers can measure on screen with pictures, can physically take photographs, overlay measurements on top of them for reference and can then export those images/measurements by USB cable. With the D810 you get all the benefits of the D510 and much, much more. The D2 calculates area and volume, and remembers the last 10 measurements taken. Use the Add/Subtract capability to combine measurements to get a precise reading of the total wall area of a room (aka "the painter function"). One step up from the D410 but a world away in terms of functionality, the D510 features4x digital zoom, accuracy to +/- 1mmand a range of 200m. Bluetooth Smart connectivity allows this device to be connected to compatible iPads, iPhones and Android devices whilst the free Disto Sketch app allows the user to draw to-scale floor plans on the fly. Crucially, thanks to the built in tilt sensor, the D810 can measure heights and height profiles. Stake out function (enter a set distance into the Disto and the unit will beep and display visually when you reach that distance)

If you'll be taking measurements often enough indoors to require precise accuracy, and if you need extra functions for different types of measurements, like corner measurements, then the D2 is a great choice for functionality and value. Without doubt, Leica Geosystems' DISTO ™collection comprises the most technically advanced, flexible and reliable laser measures in the world. Robust, rugged and fit for the task both indoors and outdoors, all Leica DISTO ™laser measures are IP54-rated as a minimum. In other words, they are all splash proof and dust resistant. Some DISTOs are even IP65-rated meaning that they water-jet proof and dust-tight. IP65 units can even be rinsed off under a tap after a hard day's work. Whilst all distos are ideally suited to taking indoor measurements, if the vast majority of your measurements are being taken inside you could save quite a bit of money by option for either the D110, D2, D210, X310 or D3a BT.
