Description

Once you’ve attached the bulb, you’ve got a bulb-shaped hole that you can’t really do anything with (unless you want to carry a spare), but at least you can fit a couple of XPro triggers in the slot that held the Bowens adapter.

The main differences are that the AD600Pro does not have the option for interchangeable adapter rings for Bowens, Profoto and Elinchrom, and obviously there’s the 200-watt power output difference between the two flash heads. The AD400Pro is an outdoor flash with exceptionally fast recycling times and a stable output throughout the entire power range. The flash boasts a powerful lithium battery, that is capable of producing up to 390 full-power flashes on a single charge.Due to its size, the AD100 Pro is a great light to hold and maneuver as you need. Because it is so light and small, it is perfect for squeezing into tight spaces and angles to achieve the perfect lighting. It can also be simply held in your hand and moved around accordingly which isn’t possible or can be uncomfortable with bigger and heavier lights. FluidKnowledge on dpreview mentions that you may also need to disable driver signing in Windows 10 to get the G1 updater and driver to work properly, as it's not signed (being written for Windows 7). To learn more about the difference between these two flashes, as well as the pros and cons of this flash, read our AD200 vs AD200 Pro comparison blog. The AD400PROfeatures a Hight Speed Sync Mode which allows your flash to sync at higher shutter speeds than normal (with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 of a second) and will allow you to overpower the sun with HSS to make shooting outdoors not an issue, reducing ambient light and getting the shot you want.

Built-In Godox 2.4G Wireless X System with Great Compatibility: AD400Pro is compatible with Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL autoflash, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus and Panasonic TTL autoflash system with support for 1/8000s high-speed sync. This ability to overpower the sun comes from the massive 600Ws of power that this light can produce. This light has a power range of 1/256-1/1 in 10 increments, a recycling time of 0.01-0.9s, as well as sporting TTL and HSS capabilities. This having been said, the AD100 Pro isn’t the most powerful of lights, in fact, it is the least powerful of the AD range, meaning that it may not be what every photographer needs! If you require more power from your flash or need a burst of light to overpower the sun, this isn’t the flash for you! Edit: I probably should’ve put the power & more specific details in this bit (thanks for the reminder, Ulysses). Fully Supports TTL auto flash, Flash Exposure Compensation, First Curtain Sync, Second Curtain Sync, Manual Flash, Multi Flash, etc. BUILT-IN GODOX 2.4G WIRELESS SYSTEM:On speaking with Paul, he felt that it was a similar sort of power output to his older Godox AD600BM. We put this down to the better bulb placement on the AD400 Pro. Some folks are reporting that you have to remove the batteries from speedlights or transmitter before attaching them to USB to get the firmware updater to recognize it. A screen grab from the XPro-P review video (coming soon) lit by the AD400 Pro modelling light inside a 4ft parabolic softbox. 1/50, f/8, ISO800. Master and Slave Function: AD400Pro can use with combination with Godox TTL camera flashes, TTL outdoor flashes etc.

Godox, and their rebranded lights like the Flashpoint series sold through Adorama, have really outpaced the industry namesakes the past three years. They have been the low-cost, high-value lighting brand and have garnered a reputation of lighting that is super powerful for the price with the same features of some high-end brands that are priced 300-400 percent higher. This has opened up high output lighting to many more people and lowered the barrier of entry into the most important part of photography: the quality and quantity of light available. As I mentioned, the AD400 Pro essentially offers the same features as the AD600 Pro with the new firmware, but with a little less power. One of the features recently added to the AD600 Pro in this firmware was 1/10th stop adjustment options. Lighting modifiers such as softboxes, barn doors, snoots and beauty dishes are also readily fitted directly to the unit or the attached mount. The flash boasts a Colour Priority Mode where white balance fluctuations will not exceed +/-75K and in standard mode the white balance is rated at 5600+/-200K.The AD400Pro Witstro features a high-speed sync mode that works with shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second, offering flash durations from 1/240 to 1/12,820 second. Another unique setting is its Stable Colour Temperature Mode, which tightly controls colour to keep temperature changes within ±75K across the entire power range. Despite these impressive characteristics, it manages to keep recycling times low at 0.01-0.9 seconds to capture peak action and every fleeting gesture. A 30W LED modelling lamp is onboard to help preview how the light is falling on your subject. Both units feature a handle for positioning and adjusting while shooting. These handles are also removable, which is ideal if you need to save space while traveling. You can find the wireless triggers here– they are brand specific for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Pentax, Olympus and Panasonic. Make sure you're using the correct cable and port for firmware updating the device. This is not as easy as it sounds for the AD Witstro lights, which often come equipped with two different types of USB ports. The design and construction of the carry bag itself is sturdy, and the componentry fits snugly and securely into the pre-cut foam inserts.

I was pretty close to it, but to be fair, it’s a 4ft octabox. With a smaller box, an aperture of, say f/4, I could’ve gotten quite a bit more distance and possibly been able to lower the ISO. ISO800 isn’t unreasonable for video, though. You can see much of my initial test thoughts in the video above, but after leaving the battery to charge overnight, the first thing I noticed that the power button had moved. The Godox AD range of flash heads is by far the most popular of the Godox flash series and for good reason! Every light is powerful, portable, lightweight and exceptionally high quality, so it's no wonder that photographers are all looking to expand their kit using these lighting solutions. However, a few of the questions we often get asked are, what exactly is the difference between the lights in this series, what can each power level of the AD range get you, and which modifiers will these lights work with? To answer these questions, and more, we have created a comprehensive guide to buying your Godox AD flash head! The AD400Pro also features a built-in Godox X-reciever that gives you remote control up to 100m and High-Speed Sync is avaiable at up to 1/8000s. New power button sequence prevents accidentally turning it on and wasting power (or burning anything) while travelling to or from a shoot
