We’ll answer those questions in this review analysis and give you a big-picture idea of what to expect from this road running shoe. Cushioning

The upper is a light, breathable mesh that’s pretty simple in design. There’s some decent padding through the collar, tongue, and heel for added comfort. My W7.5 came in at 8.8 oz — not super light, but it didn’t feel heavy out on the road. Shop Saucony Axon The Bad Delivery timescales are based on working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. Then, a box arrived at my door. It was the Saucony Axon 2. The fanfare was still pretty much nonexistent, but that might change once people start to get the Axon on their feet. Fast? I’ll give it. Responsive? Yeah, that too. But soft? Nah, there’s nothing soft about the Axon 2. Most comfort comes from the midsole geometry rather than the foam itself.Saucony put a lot into the sole unit, and in the upper they went “no-frills”. The upper is a very simple, but breathable, mesh. This mesh is light, and moves well with your foot as you move in the run. When I put them on, I loved the cushion but was surprised about the balance from the heel to the toe.

On top of a form-fitting design, the new Axon’s robust rubber outsole gives it unrivaled durability and traction in damp environments. So you can use the Axon on your long runs without wear and tear. And most of all, the upper improvements contribute to the smooth ride. There’s really no break-in period on the Saucony Axon. The upper is stretchy enough to accommodate most feet right out of the box. The brand itself estimates around 400 miles for its shoes’ lifespan. However, some models can be more durable, while others may not live up to that claim. Here are some of the signs that you need to replace your pair: MEAGHAN: As Ryan noted, this shoe is not soft underfoot. The giant slab of Pwrrun paired with the rubber outsole is not a forgiving combo. I like this shoe for easy days, but definitely not for a true recovery day.

The carbon rubber outsole was a divisive feature; some testers found it grippy while others desired more wet-surface traction. Lakota Gambill Wear-Tester Notes Under this foam, they used a durable rubber outsole that has logged more than 100 miles in my usage and still looks fairly new. This rubber offers outstanding grip on dry, solid surfaces. Stability: A [Stable Neutral] ( For the price, this is a lot of guided stability in a shoe with all the components working in tandem to propel the runner forward)

Bach: The Axon 2 overall is a wonderful shoe considering the price point. I actually have no idea how Saucony managed to pull off such a high-quality shoe at this value. The closest one to the cushion amount is the Revel, but even there, you aren’t getting nearly as much cushion, or aggressive responsiveness as the Axon will give you. The Triumph 20 fits like a glove without being constricting. Although it is 2 mm narrower on the forefoot than the average running shoe, there was enough space for our toes to wiggle. Even when our feet swelled after long runs, there was room to move around.

Saucony Axon Price Comparison

The Saucony Peregrine 13, true to its namesake (the Peregrine falcon), is a nimble and agile trail running shoe. It has extraordinary traction and a great fit. A more than capable all-rounder, it is definitely the best Saucony trail shoe. In the end, the Axon is a great investment and a great budget shoe. I’ll happily recommend it to many of my friends who run, especially if they don’t live in wet locations. Most runners feel that the Saucony Axon 2 ranks as the most durable, budget-friendly running shoe. Despite not being soft enough for the average long-distance runner, you can put countless miles on each shoe before problems pop up.

Ultraspire Fitted Race Belt:The best way to carry your phone and goods on the run. No bounce and various sizes for waist DPT/Footwear Science: A- ( For the value, there is a lot of thoughtfulness to the design here that you will not find in any other shoe around this price) When they did, I was impressed by the look of them in the box. They looked like a pair of Endorphin Shifts with a more simple upper. I got the light blue colorway, and loved the initial impression. Some of the road running shoes are also released in trail versions (see shoes with “TR” in the name). They are meant to bring the familiar experience of your favorite road shoes to the trail, but with added grip and protection. Let’s talk tech: Special features in Saucony shoesCadillac of easy run shoes,” it is a series of premium, highly-cushioned trainers, perfect for building up the mileage. It is a versatile lineup that is ready for slow daily miles as well as speed training. It is more cushioned and durable than the Kinvara. ISOFIT is an upper design that was present in nearly all Saucony running shoes throughout 2015-2019. It was meant to provide a more adaptive fit by separating the inner sleeve and the external floating support cage. However, it received criticism for making it harder to lace the shoe up and adjust the tightness. That’s why more recent releases come without it. FORMFIT These results reveal that the Axon 2 performs better than the average shoe (26.7%/45.1%), which is expected since it's not an EVA-only shoe. Dude, where's my drop? The theme of this Saucony Axon 2 review analysis focuses on how it improved over the original shoe. Most runners agree that the new shoe feels more secure in the forefoot, more stable on wet pavement, and more durable overall, even if that comes at the cost of a soft midsole.
