However, some scenes were enjoyable or entertaining to read (I won't spoil them) but there were too few and far between for me. Cadian Honour is the literary equivalent of a generic action film. There’s a planet under assault, hordes of nameless mooks getting killed, and a feel-good ending. As the third novel I’ve read from this author, I’ve noticed a pattern in the writing style that I consider a weakness: the introduction of new POVs in the middle of the novel. They’re supposed to add diversity to battle scenes but slow down the pacing with the life struggles of unengaging caricatures. Enjoyed this book as a “boots on the ground” view of the Fall of Cadia. Rather than focus on major characters or events from that large narrative event, we get disjointed stories from across the planet as several character threads are followed in the cataclysmic battle for the world. calancid - you're perfectly entitled not to buy. Superficially there are similarities. Hell - it's common grunts with lasguns facing up against the horrors of the universe. (And both series written by bald men....)

Minka Lesk is one of the soldiers who survived the apocalypse that consumed Cadia. She now fights on to honour the brave souls lost to one of Abaddon’s most audacious gambits .

While fandoms end up demanding the change of a status quo sooner or later, few tend to be prepared to deal with the consequences. It's usually the demand for some huge change, or shift to keep things interesting, but without a deeper understanding of how this might impact the world at large. This was the case with Warhammer 40,000, where the fandom had long been demanding for the timeline to move forward, but few people seemed to ask "So what now?" I haven’t read this, the third book in the Dawn of Fire series, so I can’t say too much about it. From what I understand though, it changes the focus of the series away from Imperial forces battling Chaos and onto the Space Wolves facing off against the greenskin menace led by the legendary ork warlord Ghazgkhull Thraka.

The story of Cadia’s soldiers continues despite the destruction of Cadia. Cadian Honour follows Minka Lesk and the world of Potence.

The monstrous kinetic strike wiped out most of Cadia's remaining defenders, destroyed the network of Cadian Pylons and tectonically destabilised the world. As the Warp and its foul denizens claimed the remains of the Fortress World, Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed arranged an evacuation of the planet that saved 3 million of its citizens before the planet finally ripped itself apart -- though not before Creed himself mysteriously disappeared. Anyway, that's just my opinion and there are some scenes that work in it. If you feel like it could be an enjoyable read for you, feel free to try it! The first book in the brand new Dawn of Fire series, this effectively takes place as the Indomitus Crusade begins. If you haven’t already read Dark Imperium , this is definitely the place to start with the Era Indomitus stories. There’s lots about Guilliman and masses of great new lore, but also all sorts of interesting arcs featuring the Imperial Navy, the Inquisition and the Administratum. Many of the surviving Traitors were put to the sword, but the majority of the Traitor Legions escaped into the great Warp rift known as the Eye of Terror in the Segmentum Obscurus, a region of space where reality and the insanity of Chaos collide as the raw psychic energy of the Immaterium pours into real space-time. JH: Minka Lesk is the Cadian who starts Cadia Stands (‘She is four. It is time to learn….’) now grown up, and still reeling from the fall of the Cadian Gate. She’s the pivotal character, and the face of the book – one of the best BL covers I’ve seen – which is awesome!And – Lindsey Priestley assures me – this novel has the first real insight into the inner mind of a Frateris Militiaman.
