About this deal

I love thrillers and especially these ‘Sting’ type sub-genres. With a clever, intricately built plot, each detail added to the final outcome and I loved guessing until the very end. I am not usually one to reread books, but I can imagine myself revisiting this one - it was that good. Discuss the role of ego in Meg's cons. How do her targets create openings for her with their own bad behavior? Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Julie Clark's newest thriller, The Lies I Tell. It takes an amazing storyteller to create complicated characters like Kat and Meg, two women who have been burned in the past and decide to take justice - or revenge - into their own hands.

My only complaint about the book is that I wanted more of it. Especially with the semi-open ending Clark gave us. Eugenie and Alidoro, Part 1 (Hotel Krat and Barren Swamp) You’ll receive the Four-fingered Gloves from Eugenie. Image: Neowiz Games via Polygon I’m so angry it had to end. I’m gutted it had to end. I relate to the MC (Meg) and man she is something else. Top………..not even top 5. Literally the top #1 best MC I have ever “met” in a story. She and Kat together, in this story, are a duo incomparable to any others I’ve read and I love them both, but Meg……..Meg stole the the lifetime achievement award for all time best MC. Once again, Clark has penned a razor-sharp, character-driven domestic suspense that thrills as easily as it encourages its readers to second-guess themselves, their moral compasses and their definitions of justice. Having already exposed the dark corners of a world ready to take advantage of desperate women in THE LAST FLIGHT, Clark here turns her gaze inward and asks what women are willing to sacrifice in the pursuit of revenge. She is a skillful, taut and clever plotter of mysteries and psychological thrills, but it is her multifaceted, complex and incredibly layered characters who elevate her novels to something totally fresh and original. Now Meg has returned to LA after a 10 year absence, looking for revenge for what happened a decade ago. She has spent the last ten years getting better and better at reinventing herself. She has gone by many names and has left more than a few men wondering why and how this woman has upended their lives. Sometimes Meg has cost them their fortunes, sometimes exposed their lies.I want readers to see the complexity and heartache of loving an addict. That they are more than the worst thing they’ve done. I also want readers to remember that our instincts are almost always right. When something seems off, we don’t need to know why; we only need to trust the feeling. A million times over, thank you to @NetGalley, the publisher @Sourcebooks Landmark and the author #JulieClark for granting me access to this fantastic book in exchange for my honest review……….I hope I can do it justice. Kat Roberts was at a fundraising party when she spotted Meg Williams: the woman who changed the course of her life. Depending on what or who you need determine which Meg you’ll receive: college students, life coach, real estate agent, you name it. 10 years after Meg Williams disappeared, she popped up again and Kat was determined to reveal Meg Williams as the con artist she is. Unfortunately, Meg is on to Kat from the beginning. Despite the lies they both tell to keep up appearances, the two women develop a complicated relationship.

Lady Antonia (Hotel Krat) Lady Antonia wants to know if she’s still pretty. Image: Neowiz Games via Polygon Ten years ago, Kat Roberts was an ambitious reporter helping a more senior journalist cover the explosive case of a school principal who was found to have been grooming and coercing underage girls into sexual relationships. In her research on the accused, Cory Dempsey, Kat discovered someone far more interesting: Cory’s girlfriend, Meg Williams, who is believed to have blown the whistle on her creepy beau and potentially saved dozens of young ladies from his predatory ways. Meg and Kat don’t trust each other, even as they get closer and closer. What was the most challenging part of writing their relationship?THE LIES I TELL has the makings to be one of my favorite thriller of 2022. Even this early in the year, I know this one is going to hard to beat!! But the twisted puzzle of Victoria’s private life is just the beginning. And what Avery doesn’t realize is that there are other players in the game who are interested in Avery’s own secret past—one she has kept hidden from both the network executives and her television audience. A secret she thought was dead and buried…
