Edit to say its not the most profound writing, its a fast and easy read but I was hooked and read it in a couple days. So I contracted again with 47North to bring the next three books out in 2017 starting with The Hollow Crown, all the while writing a backstory novel that pre-dates Queen’s Poisoner and tells the story of a Fountain-blessed girl named Genette. The closer Eilean and Hoel get, the nearer they are to realizing the part they must play in their kingdom’s destiny—and its ties to Eilean’s own mysterious past. As the title implies, this is the story of the founding of Muirwood abbey, its first Aldermaston, and of course, some wretcheds who will come to live there who I think you’re going to fall for.I love the religious influences and the stories flow together so well, even separated by so many generations. Praise for The Druid "Wheeler loads his tale with magic, intrigue, and believably conflicted characters. As I was finishing the final book, I realized that the story of Kingfountain wasn’t going to be over. Eilean reminds me of the protagonist of the Muirwood series but she is very much her own character and that is very much someone you root for. I even re-read Elfstones of Shannara again and loved it every bit as much as I had the previous times.

July 11, 2022: Fairly standard epic fantasy world building but some fun and unexpected twists and turns.

Brushing the dirt from her hands, Eilean stared at the ridges of earth, spaced apart just so, and imagined what the field would look like when it was blooming with blue flowers. The man still regarded her with suspicion, but he stood aside, giving her a glimpse of Aldermaston Gilifil, whose reddish-gray beard and long locks could be seen beneath the pale gray cassock of his office.

I really enjoyed Jeff Wheeler's "Kingfountain" series, which was based on the latter years of the Plantegenet rulers of England in the fifteenth century, and was excited to discover that there are more books in the series (and more coming! The Dresden Codex is the result and it will occupy my writing slate for the rest of 2023 and part of 2024. When they reached the kitchen, they hurried inside and walked down the long aisle of tables and benches already crowded with people from the fields, eating and talking boisterously.Overall, even though I didn't enjoy this as much as other books in the Muirwood series I'm still looking forward to seeing how this plays out so I'll definitely be reading the next one. One of my earliest readers was a girl named Nicole who saw me proof-reading a chapter one day and asked me about it. It was also ten years ago that I listened to Kate narrate Muirwood for the first time, thus beginning an epic partnership that has spanned dozens of books. While I honestly did not expect him to have such strong magic, I honestly feel like I should have seen it coming given his attitude so it's a bit of a plot twist.

Mortified, Eilean followed along, and they reached the four young men—Aisic, Bryant, Ely, and Llewellyn. Is Supernatural (and other works which present Christian mythology as myth, including my own) religious fiction?The spark of the story started at a Piano Guys concert actually, with an image of a lonely castle in a vast lake. As always with this author I was caught up in the fast pace and just great story that I could not put it down. I still remember losing my hard-cover edition of her book When Christ and His Saints Slept because I had set it on top of my car and it had blown off. I decided to self-publish Landmoor and Silverkin, using Deep Magic as a platform to gain some visibility with readers. I’m way looking forward to the rest of the series, and to checking out other books by this author as well.
