I also own a second edition copy, it's hard cover and I also have never heard before about a spiral version of this book! At long last someone has noticed that by claiming supernatural abilities you risk insulting the intelligence of, and hence abandoning, a great mass of the most intelligent and culturally sensitive elements in your audience—and doesn't Tommy Wonder encourage us to play directly to this portion of our audience, in the hopes that the less sophisticated segments will come along for the ride? Plus those looking to discover the wonderous treasure trove of Derren's unique psychological methods will quickly come crashing down to earth upon reading this.If they are going to all that trouble to produce fake illegal copies, one wonders why they didn't do it with the first edition that apparently everyone (not me) is after? Tommy Wonder presents us with similar demands in his landmark Books of Wonder, and responds to his similarly self-imposed challenges with exquisite combinations of mechanics, manipulation, and psychology, achieving a kind of magic that is dearly conjuring, and yet effects that seem beyond "mere" conjuring.

Brown is also a hypnotist, and hand-in-hand with that pursuit he is a proponent of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which will no doubt endear him to the more credulous among us (and the PEA, at the risk of redundancy), considering the absence of significant scientific evidence—from reputable sources outside of the NLP "industry'—in support of the NLP claims repeated here.However judging by the number completed auctions, it doesn't look like either of them do for legitimate copies of their books. This trick was published in the 1st edition of the Derren Brown book ‘Pure Effect’ but was later removed as it was thought the effect was too strong. One of the chapters is entitled: “Enhancing your attractiveness to the spectator” and it is all about he, as a man, essentially seduces female spectators to build rapport. In Bob Cassidy’s work, including his extraordinary Mental Miracles DVD, he argues that we should avoid the typical “card trick” or the use of cards to in your own mental miracle. If you're interested in using some skills that Derren Brown does, I would also recommend checking out some NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) books, as they will definitely help you out.
