About this deal

Like most textbooks, it starts with polite language (which makes sense, since it’s meant for language schools in Japan, and the learners are likely to need to use this stuff quickly, and politely). They're not just Japanese grammar books: each lesson features a situation with a dialogue that makes you go through new grammar points, vocabulary, and kanji while practicing reading and listening comprehension and doing some writing as well.

Through the task-based exercises (listening for necessary information in dialogues, interviews, reports, etc. A dictionary of * japanese grammar: Teuer, aber die Anschaffung hat sich zumindest für die N3-JLPT gelohnt.Personally, I think it’s better to have the double textbook because it’s harder to fall back to English as a crutch, so I like the separate volume.

The content is nearly the same and when you add the additional workbook to Genki you have a ton, really a ton of content you can practice with. In this second edition, the vocabulary has been updated accompanied by illustrations that help structure learning. Genki is the other Japanese language book series that makes every student doubt which one they should go with.

If not, I pause and read the grammar explanation for the chapter, then go back and re-read the sentences. This is a good guide though if you are using it as a main textbook in a lesson or as an accompaniment.

There's a multi-CD package: Is that just CD-player versions of the MP3 disk that comes with the main textbook, or does it provide additional audio for exercises etc?

A total of 536 kanji are studied in the two books in this series (220 kanji in this book one and 316 in book two), covering the kanji required for the N4 and N3 levels of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and some of the kanji required for the N2 level. One of the biggest advantages of studying with the Minna no Nihongo series is that it covers such a wide range of topics. Omdat beide series onder diverse benamingen voorkomen en diverse delen omvatten wordt het al snel verwarrend. It is essential if you're starting to learn Japanese from this book that you are able to read hiragana and katakana and have the Minna no Nihongo English translation notes book also in case you need clarification on something.

That’s said, I’m pretty ‘shocked’ with how mangas, books and things people use on the Internet after leaving minna no nihongo :D. It promotes the sentence and grammar structures in the practice sections very well and makes you repeat them in different tenses as you work through the book. Some parts are a little boring though as it is aimed towards business people and the plays are hilarious. What I found helpful is completeing the Genki series first, then moving to みんなの日本語 to cover missed lessons only. It is a great study tool for passionate people dedicated to learn and improve, especially with all the different workbooks available for people craving for more.Overall, the Minna no Nihongo series is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn Japanese. Where as for self study I'd just go with Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese as I think that's better nowadays. l found resources like Human Japanese to be super enjoyable because it was all material I knew already and it made for excellent review at the same time. There are textbooks for grammar, vocabulary, kanji, and even culture, so you can be sure that you’re getting a well-rounded education in all aspects of the language. For your reference, sample pages are available on each product page for you to see which one will suit you best.
