Some of the advise I was already aware of and incorporated into my life, but it was nice to see it validated. Her book promises straight-talking worldly advice, which there is some, but about a third into it she switches to focusing on her story as she built up her business and the challenges she has faced along the way, and this is what makes up the last two thirds of the entire thing. Anya shares about her journey as a businesswoman in fashion, most notably for the “I’m not a plastic bag” campaign, her life experiences and juggling life as a working mother (as do many successful career women). She talks about parenting three young bereaved children, while still in her twenties herself, and how she adapted her life to raise them while trying to get her business off the ground. In If In Doubt, Wash Your Hair , she shares what she has learned during her busy and eclectic life, what she still worries about, and what advice she has received along the way.

It felt like her book was written for me, she covers all topics from running a business to having a family, and how she balances it all (with help! In this book, she shares her life experiences from the challenges of managing business, family and her own personal happiness at the same time. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. I really enjoyed the first 80-odd pages of the book, and found myself thinking 'this author is a Wise Person'.

It really is a life style manual, and takes for granted a certain level of mental resilience and the ability to cram your day full of activity.

The author wisely acknowledges her privilege in having had the funds and opportunity to set up her own business, as it really was built from scratch. It's insightful and authentic and feel-good - and one of those books that you find yourself thinking about and quoting from regularly in all sorts of contexts, whether you're thinking about work or marriage or parenting (or shampoo.

I guess that’s something very real to most who have been feeling languished in recent years (yes, it’s been that long). There is mention of some wide-reaching advice which should appeal to the typical reader, but these came almost as an after thought at the end of most chapters, as opposed to her own story and experiences woven around the advice that is promised on the cover. The details really made it from the flowery protective wraps, the music, the vintage furniture to the iconic posters ‘Good for your head’. And also that I constantly worry how I don't mess up at parenting because I not only realise how important a role of a parent is + how the kind of relationship you build with them growing up is going to determine the kind of relationship they have with you when you are old.I have underlined lots of quotes and highlighted some sections that I really liked and connected with. She really loves her children and a large part of her life is spent making sure how they are all safe, cared for and know that they are loved. In addition, she has set a wonderful model for building a warm, inclusive but professional business culture. This guide to life consists of the best advice she's received over the years (for context, she's in her early 50s and started her business as a teenager! I seem to have run across this problem before, that a book isn't too sure if it's a memoir or a how-to.
