On initial spray you get the frankincense and basil which is OK and lasts for about 10 minutes or so, and the the middle/base notes kick in.

This can be worn in all seasons except in very humid conditions (IMO) depending on the number of sprays. As always with anything involving Arabian Oud, it’s an utter nightmare trying to get concrete, definitive, set details on the fragrance.I prefer to smell this on a man (or scent my home with it) than to wear it myself, the smell of burning woods is abit much for me, eventhough I find the ambery-vanilla aspect of it absolutely, deliciously gorgeous, I just love sweet ambery scents. I think the sharpness of the dry, smoky woods give Sehr el Kalemat a far greater similarity to Amouage‘s Interlude Man than the original Kalemat ever had, though I think the nature of the smoke is different.

IMHO, much better and more balanced than the original Kalemat, which is nice but more leathery, animalic and for me more difficult to wear. During this short period, the hot summer here in Bahrain, and considering the number of fragrances that I am using per week, Kalemat has given me compliments almost every-time that I have worn it. As a whole, Sehr el Kalemat’s overall, opening bouquet on my skin when smelled from afar is that of blueberries, patchouli, and saffron. I didn’t because of I didn’t experience any herbal qualities in Sehr, but that one chap at Notable Scents seems to have done so.Sprayed it today and it’s very similar to the original Kalemat except for the fresh basil note and a smokier nuance. Once that dissipates you will be greeted with a very wearable cold weather sweet vanilla/oud fragrance which is "western" enough not to offend anybody even the relatively inexperienced noses. And then about an hour the Oud and the Vanilla and the amber and the Basil rise up imploding from your skin into your aura. I'm 10 sprays in today and that's just enough to project similar to 5 sprays of Mancera Crazy for Oud and frankly the scent isn't amazing either.

He slowly becomes warmer, darker, vanilla I also smell, but clearly less than the amber and incense. Everyone I know loves سحر الكلمات (magic words) it's got just the right amount of everything going for it: sweet, smokey, even a little tart. Black smells similar to Kalemat when first sprayed, but within a few seconds it quickly turns into an incense-herbal scent on my skin; largely frankincense and basil, but I also detected a faint smokey-incense vibe along with a dark-woods accord.An initial blast of Kalemat followed by an hour of a lightly spicy-sweet incense and dry ash is what I initially get out this fragrance, and I cannot resist sniffing my wrist with every wearing. I’m at the end of my fourth test of Sehr el Kalemat, and I think the most accurate description of my reaction is that I’m underwhelmed. Increasingly, the scent turns warm and sweet, until it is merely blueberry amber with honey and vanilla. Not as sweet as the OG Kalemat and a bit more fresh( I have a better OG Kalemat dupe that works for me in Masha'er by Oud Elite) but still near atomic in sillage and performance (2 sprays have 14+ hours of room-filling performance on my skin).
