Description

The Dutch garden hoe has a long handle, usually made of wood or metal, and a rectangular blade that is attached to the handle at a right angle. Stirrup hoe: Used in a back-and-forth motion, the stirrup (or loop) hoe is a good choice if you have more stubborn or persistent weeds.

The sharp carbon-steel blade is narrow enough for small gaps between plants and has a clean cutting action. Our testers found the stainless steel blade sliced weeds smoothly and was easily controllable, but it could occasionally slip. The idea here is that any head from the QuickFit range can attach to any handle from the QuickFit range with a simple automatic locking system.International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions. It can be used for daily gardening work for weeding, loosen the soil, planting vegetables and more as need. The largest sculpture that I have created for the show this year is Doe Hoe Roe, a life sized female roe deer. Made from mirror polished stainless steel it’s the twin edges that really give it that effortless cut.

The soft grip is extra long which I really liked as I am still able to hold onto the grip and use it in many different positions. But there are three main types of hoes worth knowing about as knowing how they work then means you know how to choose the right tool for the job.

The Mall Galleries have worked hard to enable visitors to enjoy the exhibition whilst ensuring that social distancing is in place.

Again, we are in a trade off for durability as the aluminum handles aren’t great at shock absorption either. Once you've finished sharpening, oil the blade and wooden handle with Boiled Linseed oil and then wipe off any excess.

I will have eight pieces on show there but it is well worth a visit if you are keen on all kinds of art inspired by the natural world as there are over 350 catalogued works by numerous artists in addition to unframed project work in the Out of the Frame room which includes work by the amazing Ben Woodhams SWLA. I hope that after reading this guide we have helped you decide which tool is best suited for your needs and you can agree that it’s definitely better to work smarter and not harder.

I don’t always make exciting big animals like some other artists (lots of wildlife artists paint lions, tigers and eagles) for me I find an ant or a lizard as interesting as a giraffe. Garden Hoes are traditional hand tools which have been used for many years in a variety of ways, including shaping and clearing soil, removing weeds, and harvesting root crops. The exhibition shows the very best of art inspired by the natural world and includes paintings, drawings, sculptures and artist’s original prints. It feels like we are having to substitute a robust handle for something that will help take the hits for our bodies, or visa versa. I have chosen yourself as, I too, love wildlife and my Grandad has a farm and has sheds full of old tools and I love making things.
