About this deal

We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there is something for every literary palate. This is then laid out by a designer, then the illustrator, Ed Eaves in this case, will create some rough drawings to fill the pages. We wanted to fire up children's imaginations and help them picture how life might be for them if they lived in ancient times. This story is perfect for teaching children about resilience, determination and the power of working together. Children have big imaginations, a characteristic beautifully captured by author Caryl Hart in her bestselling Albie books.

Pirates wore eye patches so that one eye would be well-adjusted to night vision and seeing below deck (which was always gloomy and dark). Four gloriously illustrated classic ballet stories, sensitively updated with a diverse cast of characters and language that reflects contemporary values. Ed Eaves has done a fabulous job of slipping all these details in without making too big a deal of it!In theory, it could have kept going forever… Every world feels distinct and surprising… Albie’s reunion with his mother, when it comes, is utterly heartbreaking, and readers may be grateful they had so many chapters to prepare for it. This charming and imaginative story is set against a backdrop of 14 beautifully intricate watercolor illustrations that help bring the story to life.

If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance. The best thing about working with illustrator Ed Eaves on the Albie books, is that he has an amazing ability to draw exactly what’s inside my head – only better! Told in first person, each book has a clear and distinct theme, keeping the adventures feeling fresh and leaving you wanting to read more of them. Albie meets differing versions of himself; in one world, there’s a malevolent Albie, and in another he’s herself not himself.

Whereas his mum was a playful sharer – she’d listen to his questions such as ‘Why does cheese on toast always go stringy?

Both had worked at CERN before his mother’s cancer brought them home for medical treatment and work in the underground laboratories.

So, Albie reasons, if he could somehow travel to these universes where things are the same but different, he might find Mum still alive in one of them. I had a great childhood and growing up, my parents often referred to our games and outings as adventures. Mum might just have the most fun game of all - a gloopy, squishy mud bath before they both fall asleep!A hilarious springboard for discussing your own little one’s worries, you will quickly fall in love with this cheeky little wolf! The following year, I wrote How to Grow a Dinosaur and sent it to my editor at Simon and Schuster to see if she thought it might be a suitable second story for Albie. We’re thrilled to be joining a special blog tour to celebrate Albie’s birthday where each of Albie’s books are being featured by different bloggers. Since then, Ed Eaves and I have created around one book every year, with book 11 due out this summer. The hunt for Claw continues, as does the readers hunt for all the special items set out on the first page.
