About this deal

and at 22:42 I can still smell it and I'm getting wafts every so often, the original formulation in the blue refillable bottle is still better performing though, the newer formulation does last long but it whispers after a few hours although on clothing it just seems to hang on in there.

However once fully dried down that goes away and everything comes together for a very nice classy elegant scent. Even though it's EDT concentration, this easily outperforms many of the EDP and extrait concentrated fragrances in my collection, and mine isn't even a vintage formula - I bought it last year and presumably it's from 2019 or 2020. First of all, I don't like the word "dated" in fragrances because I adore many scents from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I think that this is a Greta masculine oriental, with classic masculine vibes but yet, modern and, specially, very unique. The Issey Miyake Nuit d'Issey smells a bit like this one, insofar as 90's retro vibes are concerned.

The scent does not change much over time which is a good thing because you will have the beautiful feeling of the opening until the end. Maybe it’s me but I can barely tell the difference between the new version of this and Guerlain Heritage. Exuberant, dressed in a blue tailcoat, with a heart of gold, he offers the arm to the one who wants it, seduces and does not let go.

The ginger and pepper notes come forward in around 20-30 min after this cools off and After about an hour it keeps a tiny some of of this edge, but the cedary woody notes come forward a lot more.

The fragrance dries down to a powdery floral and vanilla scent with the fruitiness of the blackcurrant still in the background. I blind bought this perfume from Mumbai IA duty free while I was on my way for first time abroad for my job to Saudi Arabia. The sillage and longevity are quite moderate, but I assure you that every one close enought will notify you when wearing this masterpiece.

Others here have explained the composition for well, so I'll just say what this fragrance means to me. The star anise together with the black currants compose a fruity-spicy opening and the almost carnal, sweet-flavored vanilla .

This is a beast of fragrance with so much depth and complexity and its just addictive and divine to smell.

This is rich, polished, spicey, superbly blended, elegant, and harkens to the past but remains firmly in today. By all means, this is not your current flavor, but it isn't outdated and it IS worth owning despite the fact that this came out about 25 years ago. Surely, there are more assertive orientals out there, but none is as sophisticated as Opium pour Homme. I always thought of Opium as a kind of unattainable summit, something far away, grand and intensely beautiful. It probably projects for about an hour and you might still be able to sense it 4-5h later if you bury your nose on the actual spot where you sprayed it.
