Usually, colour strippers take you back to your original colour, but due to the pigment of my hair and due to it being red based, it left a coppery/blonde tone behind, and I honestly loved it. Whether you are dyeing your full head, creating Ombre or Dip Dye our comprehensive in pack instruction talk you through what to do step by step. Weird, I don’t know why, but with so much colour leakage in the water and in everyday life, it’s weird how they don’t fade easily.

Seeing as this is a semi-permanent dye over a dark permanent dye, I think we can agree that the difference is pretty damn good. Our best-selling non-damaging and semi-permanent hair dye Riot shows up on unbleached hair and looks fiery red on lightened hair!

At first, my roots were more purple and the ends of my hair were pinkier/redder, I didn’t mind at all and I rather liked it. I used Colour Freedom in Crimson Red a few weeks after bleaching my roots which means I had quite a bit of regrowth, but because Crimson Red is darker and more intense, it made my regrowth look amazing. The picture on the right is out of natural light (and me first thing in a morning, so please forgive me) and the left is what it it looked like when the sun hit it.

Always conduct a strand test 48 hours prior to each application as advised on pack and in the instructions. Although currently a bit empty looking, it’s got a great tool for testing out the dyes on both pre-lightened and naturally blonde hair.

Do not use to dye eyebrows or eyelashes as severe inflammation of the eye or even blindness may result. I’ve just used Mystic Purple on my grey hair, which is quite light at the front and darker everywhere else. They don’t leave that slightly orange tint but at the same time they don’t make my hair super dark either.

But, I have still been conditioning with red dye, and it’s back to a similar colour, but actually even more pink and rose gold in some lights this time. We all know I started dying my hair purple in March using Live XXL Mystic Violet hair dye, and while I’m still purple, I recently switched to Superdrugs own Cosmic Purple seeing as it is usually a 2 for 1 offer, and it’s not tested on animals. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Thought it might have been due to condition of hair (had lightened it aiming for platinum blonde, but it went super brassy), so last night used the remaining dye on natural hair (dark blonde) with highlights and it went tango orange again. So, with the help of my wonderful mother, we decided it was time for a change, and we definitely got a change.

Colour Freedom is a range of 8 semi-permanent colours that ideally should be used on pre-lightened/light hair, however, the reason I shock many people when they see my hair in person is that I rarely ever bleach it, so I didn’t for this either. I think we can agree, this is firmly mermaid hair, while the picture above we nicknamed ‘Swamp Queen’ hair. Your hub for any and all alternative fashion--from gothic, to emo, to steampunk, to cyberpop, and beyond. This was the colour we dyed over: not freshly dyed, because as we learned from the Mystic Violet review, my hair goes black after first being dyed, which is the same with the Superdrug dye, but this was a few washes afterwards. While being a bit annoyed about how quickly it was fading, Momma She suggested using a red based dye to keep my colour topped up and have more definition to it, and seeing as my mum is excellent when it comes to hair, I thought I’d trust her, and off I went to look for different dyes. I think I definitely want to start using these towards when my hair needs bleaching to hide my dark roots, and make sure my hair looks the best as possible. A couple of months back I had my hair bleached and lightened which means it’s a lot brighter and colours come out a lot truer now too. Of course I can’t just dye over dark brown hair with semi permanent: the colour won’t take and it’d just be a complete waste of money.
