The Hakushu Distillery was built in 1979 by Shinjiro's son, Keizo Saji, who clearly inherited his father's pioneering spirit!

Hakushu produce a range of styles from its 16 stills from light to heavily peated malt but the house style evokes the crisp, green nature of the distilleries location. Kaikomagatake, Hakushu Whisky is the fresh and gently smoky single malt whisky with herbal notes that is the revelation of Japanese single malts. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. He embarked on his journey with a very clear vision as to what he wanted to achieve - to craft top-class, authentic Japanese spirits that were delicately flavoured to suit the nation's tastes.
