If you want to go a step further, you could also upgrade the fan to a 5015 version which allows more airflow and will improve your PLA prints. This was one of the issues I had with the Flashforge Adventurer 4, which seems to make sense considering the slicer for the two printers is so similar and likely uses the same toolpath-generating algorithm. It seems a little misleading for Voxelab to advertise compatibility with Cura without offering so much as a how-to guide for getting the printer running on this software, which places the burden of support somewhere between Voxelab and Ultimaker and ultimately on the user. This is what you might expect with a mid-tier printer, which is big enough for the majority of the items you’ll print. Using a shiny material (like this Prusa Silver PLA) tends to highlight defects, so the even layers are even more pronounced on this hook.

The Sunon and Noctua fans are quiet, but they are 12V so you will need a buck converter if you plan to install these. Instead of creating an entirely new slicer app for Voxelab, Flashforge has created a skinned version of their FlashPrint app (used by printers like the Adventurer 3 Lite) and rebadged it as VoxelMaker. It also improves the print quality for flexible filaments like TPU, so it might be an interesting Voxelab Aquila upgrade, especially considering that it can be done with no cost except for a few grams of filament. Alex did an excellent job in compiling various versions of the firmware so you can easily download the version you need and flash it in a couple of minutes. With the money saved from not purchasing the Ender 3 V2 you could add more functionality to your Aquila and also have some money left for an extra roll of filament. The main benefit of upgrading to this extruder is that you won’t have to perform any firmware modifications, but extruder and flow rate calibration should not be skipped. Each terminated wire has a small yellow tag on it which corresponds with where it needs to be connected.

Bear in mind that you don’t want to overtighten the tensioners because you may wind up with degraded print quality. The addition of a BLTouch input on the board indicates that this machine could be upgraded in the future, either by the user or by Voxelab. Additionally, it is compatible with various filaments including PLA, ABS, and PETG, giving you the flexibility to explore different materials and achieve the desired results. The aluminum extrusions were all wrapped in a protective plastic cover, and when I removed it, I was surprised to find out they were all covered in what appeared to be cutting fluid from the aluminum cutting process. The printer’s surface is held in place with two metal clips, which lets you remove the glass if you need to.
