Editors' Note: This is the most recent version of the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro. Read our original review from November 29, 2022 below.

On the whole, the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro Battery proved problem-free in terms of monitoring and alerts once it was set up, although keeping it “talking” to our Wi-Fi was an issue. The property where it was installed relies on booster discs to extend the signal outside – and while this has been sufficient for other outdoor tech, this camera didn’t work well on the system. Often simply nudging the camera for a better angle would cause it to lose connectivity. Essentially, you’ll need a solid Wi-Fi signal for the best performance – and you may well find that while the battery doesn’t limit where you install it, connectivity could have a bearing. Ring states that the Spotlight Cam Pro Battery requires a minimum upload speed of 2Mbps for optimal performance. Things you can do in the app include (left - right) adjusting the Bird's Eye view, motion frequency, alerts and view recorded footage (Image credit: Future / Rachel Ogden) Installing your Ring Spotlight Cam Wired is a simple process. The steps below will help you prepare and mount your Spotlight Cam. New to this model are several features previously only offered with the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro including Bird’s Eye View and 3D motion detection. The 3D motion detection feature allows you to create custom motion zones with distance thresholds. When the sensor detects an object, it measures the distance between the object and the camera and sends an alert if that distance exceeds the threshold. 3D motion detection also powers the Bird’s Eye View feature that lets you see where visitors have traveled while on your property. These events appear as dots on an aerial map and show the path of the visitor. Other new features include color pre-roll, which shows you what triggered a motion event with up to six seconds of extra video, color night vision, and dual-band Wi-Fi. Note that the spotlights here aren't nearly as bright as the floodlights on the Floodlight Cam Pro.

Note: Use a minimum 18AWG or higher round 3-core cable with outer diameter of 6-7 millimeters and core diameter of 0.75-1 millimeters. Illuminates and sends announcements to Echo devices whenever motion is detected, and lets you see, hear, and speak to people on camera with select Echo and Fire TV devices. The setup process is a little laborious, requiring you to accurately pinpoint on a satellite image the install location of the camera. Then you need to adjust where the camera is looking and what it can see. If you get any of this wrong or it’s not close to as accurate as possible, alerts and mapping of a person’s location will be completely wrong. I do wish Ring used a snapshot taken by the camera itself, instead of a satellite thumbnail for Bird’s Eye View. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you’ll get motion alerts and be able to use the live stream feature, along with two-way talk to communicate with anyone on your property. Ring Spotlight Cam Pro review: Advanced motion detection Remove the brown (L) and blue (N) wires. Then, remove the yellow wired mount bonding conductor wire and the home protective earthing conductor wire.

Features for Spotlight Cam Pro include HDR video, Color Night Vision, Audio+, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, LED spotlights, 3D Motion Detection, Bird’s Eye View, and Motion Zones. Yes, Spotlight Cam Pro has adjustable brightness. It has a brightness of 375 lumens and a colour temperature of 3000K. Plug your Spotlight Cam into a power outlet Plug your Spotlight Cam into an outlet in the same room as your Wi-Fi router to set it up. I was pleased with the color saturation (thanks to the HDR feature) and the clarity; 1080p is more than good enough to easily see who or what is in front of the camera.

The installation height of the Spotlight Cam Pro will impact how effective or ineffective the actual spotlights are in lighting up an area. With two lights, each putting out just 375 lumens of light, the Spotlight Cam Pro is best suited for lighting up an area that's closer to the camera. To put that in contrast, each light on the Ring Floodlight Cam Pro is 2,000 Lumens. Yes. For step-by-step mounting instructions, please refer to the Setup Guide included with your camera or our Help Centre installation guides.
