Description

While there are descriptions heroic acts, this account focuses on the everyday life of regular soldiers. It puts the reader in their shoes. They wanted to do what had to be done in the most efficient and effective way possible – the mantra was “get it done and get home.” It is filled with intense, memorable, and powerful scenes. His writing is direct and animated. This was a time before television coverage of wars and Pyle’s syndicated columns provided people on the American home front a portrait of what it was like to be there. He reports on medical processes, demolition projects, ordnance, shelling and shrapnel, food and water supplies, and, truly, almost every aspect of the war – on the front lines and behind the scenes.

On varying pace: "I go with my gut. I'll bowl more pace-on balls at the start when the ball is harder because you get more out of the surface. His critics claim he does not deliver consistently enough, and gets himself out when in a good position, but in last season's tournament he top scored for the Brave with 229 runs, and was the third-best ranked batter overall. It's a learning lesson that you don't have to hit every ball out of the middle of the bat. And hopefully the more I play the more I can learn and improve." Originals, who have now won their last two games after losing their first three, put in a fine bowling performance, with Paul Walter taking 3-20. But spinner Rehan Ahmed did just that. Aged 13, he dismissed Alastair Cook and Joe Root as well as current Test captain Ben Stokes in a training session at Lord's in 2016.Southern Brave were branded favourites for the men’s competition after last year’s draft and, while the withdrawal of Andre Russell is obviously a blow, it is still difficult to look past Mahela Jayawardene’s charge. I've had a really good summer, I've played a lot for Sussex as well, so just staying on top of it and assessing conditions as best I can." Southern Brave are probably not going to win this game but Tim David is going to try and get them as close as possible.

Everything war can be, the merciless sorrow of it all, is there in McCullin’s dark, arresting aesthetic – both in his reflective prose and his pin-sharp photographs. McCullin is well-known, of course, for his images, but his words in the book vibrate with an equal power, in my opinion. They are those of a man trying to comprehend what he saw and what he will never be able to unsee. He writes in plain language, and sometimes his stories and observations took my breath away they were so vivid. He is also very humble, which was gratifying considering that he was a very famous and beloved correspondent. Pyle "was a Pulitzer Prize–winning American journalist and war correspondent who is best known for his stories about ordinary American soldiers during World War II." He was a famous reporter then. He was killed by enemy fire in the Okinawa campaign in April 1945. Per the review that follows, "As a combat reporter, Pyle surpassed all others working during the Second World War...." Brave, who won all their matches at the Ageas Bowl last year, struggled to keep up with the required run rate and were bowled out for 120 to lose by 68 runs. I’ve read several WW II history books. Brave Men is more than a history book; it was written as history was being made. It’s journalism – and an entirely different read. This book is a collection of the dispatches Pyle sent for publication in US newspapers. As a war correspondent, Pyle reported the war through the eyes of the men on the front lines.I have been feeling good with the bat and wanting to make those contributions. Andre Russell did what he does best. He has been threatening to do that and it was great to watch. He is one of the premier T20 and Hundred players around and is desperate to show what he can do. History tells you he would put in a performance and it was just a matter of time." Two balls later, with Buttler on 71, Ahmed had the chance to run out Buttler at the non-striker's end, but was in no position to gather Vince's return. It would be the Brave's last chance.

+ Next steps

At halfway, it was the fourth-highest total in the men's Hundred and best in a play-off game, only for the Originals to show it was not enough. 'That was fantastic' - what they said On his own bowling: "It's been a good comp so far, I'm happy with how I'm doing personally. It's hard bowling at the death every game, you've got to understand that you're no always going to get it right and in the last game I got a bit of tap. By the time Buttler miscued Chris Jordan, Originals were left needing only 17 from 12 deliveries. The experienced Laurie Evans took them to the brink before Jamie Overton, Craig's twin, hit Jordan for six over long-off to seal a hugely impressive victory. Not Brave enough Southern Brave bowler Tymal Mills on BBC Two: I don't like to shout about it [his birthday] but it was a nice day and a nice present. Fast forward four years and the gifted youngster is a star for England U19s and is ready to work his spin wizardry in his debut season for Brave.
