Description

Carefully place the record on the yellow microfiber towel included in your GrooveWasher kit. (If your kit does not include this towel, use a soft clean cloth or towel). Place the record label protector disk on the record label. Spray 5 or 6 mist sprays to completely cover the record surface. Wait 10 seconds or more. Secondly, over time, these products start to lose their consistency in staying together as a complete gel ball. Eventually, they can flake away, leaving gel on the record surface. They’re a handy accessory for cleaning dust off your turntable in challenging to reach gaps, but don’t use them directly on your records. This refill is one of the essential parts of the GroveWasher product that simply works great. Gently cleans the record surface lifting out all the accumulated dirt and grime with ease." Richard Villanova For heavier cleaning needs, choose the *Two-Step G3 Record Cleaning Fluid. It's the same formulation as GrooveWasher's One-Step G2 Fluid with one important difference: An increased surfactant concentration for greater power to get down and do the dirty work! NOTE: G2 Fluid is a light cleaner, by design. Multiple cleanings may be necessary. If you hear pops or the stylus plows out the gunk, clean again. Take your time; patience will be rewarded.”

The HumminGuru is a well-designed machine when you consider the price point. Does it perform as well as competitor machines costing thousands of dollars? Perhaps, in reality, this is an unfair comparison. Notes:For heavier cleaning needs, choose the *Two-Step G3 Record Cleaning Fluid. It's the same formulation as GrooveWasher's One-Step G2 Fluid with one important difference: An increased surfactant concentration for greater power to get down and do the dirty work! HumminGuru Users: One drop of G-Sonic added to the bath tank, after it is filled, will break the water's surface tension for improved cleaning. G-Sonic vastly improved the performance of the HumminGuru in our testing here at the GrooveWasher plant! As the saying goes, there’s more than one way to shine a penny. That said, I’ve been using GrooveWasher products on my records for over five years now, and I find they work exceptionally both manually by hand and in conjunction with a record cleaning machine. It’s nice to see GrooveWasher’s continued commitment to developing new tools that complement their cleaning fluids and we can’t wait to test the new G-Sonic ultrasonic cleaning surfactant (watch this space).

On The Go

As you can hear from the sample of Neil Young’s Tell Me Why (used for demonstration purposes only), this fairly dirty record starts to clear up really well by the second and third cleaning. The HumminGuru did succeed in significantly improving the sound of this record, albeit I would say you need the surfactant to unleash the full cleaning power of this machine. G-Sonic Ultrasonic Additive with bulb dropper. (1 oz/30 mL) Makes 60 gallons of G-Sonic treated distilled water. These microscopic bubbles implode with such force that contaminants adhering to surfaces are dislodged. G3 Fluid requires a rinsing step. Either use GrooveWasher's GSR Super Rinse Fluid, or distilled water.

Super wetting agent: A specialty chemical that reduces the G2 Fluid's surface tension to reach the bottom of the groove. When you spray G2 Fluid on a record you can see it spread down the grooves.

Designed for use with the GrooveWasher cleaning pads. But you can use G2 Fluid with your preferred absorbent brush or fabric. NOTE: Carbon fiber brushes are non-absorbent and not designed for wet cleaning. Use of G2 Fluid with a carbon fiber brush is not recommended. Ultrasonic cleaning for vinyl records is an interesting concept. It works by using high-frequency pressure sound waves to agitate a liquid, producing tiny cavitation bubbles. Lots of tiny bubbles produce forces, which help to gently lift dirt, dust, and grime from the record grooves. Lightly apply the leading edge of the pad to the record and wipe the record in concentric arcs – with the grooves, not across. Wipe the entire record at least 3 times with moderate pressure. When buying a record cleaner for the first time, we recommend buying a small quantity before committing to it across your entire collection.
