Sound quality is further improved and customized by using Jaybird’s in-app equalizer. More on the Jaybird App below. They come with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, so you can be sure even a sweaty workout won’t break them. And you get a range of eartips and wings with the Jaybird Vista 2, while a Find My Fit feature within the app means anyone should be able to find a secure fit.

The Jaybird Vista 2 are great true wireless earbuds for all kinds of purposes, whether you're at the gym, commuting, or sat in the office. But they're definitely designed with movement in mind. Better Microphone quality – 4 Beamforming microphones on the Vista 2 combined with wind-proof guard material allows for better audio quality than the original Vista Connectivity-wise the buds feature Bluetooth 5 and JBS1 wireless technology. The tech works a treat and meant the Vista were able to maintain a connection and continue pumping out audio in busy signal areas that made my Galaxy Buds and Amps Air 2.0 all but unusable. Battery life on the Vista is reasonably good. The six hour quoted live for the buds rang true during testing and is above average for a true wireless set. But the case’s 10 hour life is a little on the short side and means you’ll only get one full charge out of it before you need to reconnect it to the mains. I also noticed during the initial setup process that pairing the Jaybird Vista 2 to my iPhone 12 Pro was much faster than previous generation Jaybird headphones. To pair the Jaybird wireless bluetooth earbuds to your phone, place the earbuds in the charging case and tap the small button inside. This process is so much easier and faster than it used to be.The only downside to the design is that by focussing on fitness first, the earbuds are missing a few basic features. For starters, there’s no ambient sound mode – this is apparently due to the added weight the mics needed would bring. There’s also no Qualcomm aptX support, though given how rare the codec is on running headphones, this is hardly a surprise. The Vista have been designed from the ground up with runners and gym goers in mind Battery life Jaybird’s claim to fame here is “earth proof” earbuds, and marketing-wise it’s pretty genius. They’ve got a slew of different certifications. For the waterproofing and dust side, they’ve gone with IP68, making it dust resistant as well as water resistant for 1 hour at 3 meters (better than IPX7, which is 30 minutes at 1 meter). These won’t work in the pool from a sound standpoint (since digital audio signals can’t transit water more than a centimeter or two), but if you jump in the pool for a second they won’t die. Same goes for lounging around the pool.

You won’t find some noise-cancelling or ambient sound features here, like the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless, which uses external microphones to play outside noise inside the drivers, keeping you more in tune to your surroundings. We’re told that Jaybird wouldn’t have been able to keep the dimensions down if it included these kinds of features, which holds true when we consider the bulkier earbuds of those other models. Our verdict During exercise is where that performance really matters and there’s certainly no let up on that front. We used them for indoor and outdoor workouts, and the audio quality overall was great, feeling like a bit of a step up compared to the original Vista earbuds. We’d be inclined to say the similarly priced Jabra Elite Active 75t offer a little more in terms of power and detail but the Vista 2 are still really great sounding earbuds for exercise. The updates don't stop there, though: the Vista 2 now has active noise cancelling (the OG Vista used passive noise cancelling only), a feature called 'SurroundSense' (a.k.a. ambient sound mode, let's noise in from your surroundings), better microphone performance (although still has two mics only) and longer battery life. The most important thing with any wireless earbuds is how they fit — and that's even more true when it comes to workout earbuds. If they don't stay in your ears and you're bobbing and weaving, squatting and planking, then you're doomed. Now, unfortunately, there’s no Apple Find My integration here. I know Android users don’t care about that, but for iOS users I was really hoping we’d see Find My UWB integration like on Belkin’s Soundform Freedom True new earphones. That’d be amazeballs here. And I think realistically, going forward, it’s gotta be standard in this category for anyone that’s not a phone maker (e.g. Samsung with their buds). It’s a massive selling point for iOS users, who realistically make up the majority of this particular market (and we all know Apple will undoubtedly launch Find My via UWB baked into the next iteration of AirPod Pro or PowerBeats Pro). They also come with military-grade durability credentials, with a MIL-STD-810G rating also deeming them drop proof, crush proof and dust proof. The build here is functional and un-fussy. The brushed, rubberised plastic provides enough grip for them to not leap from our hand; the chord loop on the small case is useful and the neon yellow interior of the case is perfect for locating the buds on an early-morning run. Everything is designed with the runner in mind. The Vistas time as well as any runner’s pacer app. There’s a fair dollop of detail on offer – we easily hear Freddie utter “all right” during May’s instrumental electric guitar section. As Another One Bites the Dust begins, there’s no shortage of excitement and clout through the initial driving bass guitar riff, or dynamic build through an impressive crescendo. The Vistas are punchy, perky performers. Jaybird may have been one of the first in the sports headphones market, but it's far from the only player. Pretty much every major headphone manufacturer now has a wireless sports pair to rival Jaybird's, and most of them are a little cheaper, too. So why should you consider Jaybird over the likes of Sony, Bose and JBL? Jaybird almost completely overhauled the Vista the second time around, making it even more durable than before. In fact, the Jaybird Vista 2 are the most resilient true wireless sports headphones on the market with their IP68 rating (the Vista was 'only' IPX7). Is the mic good for phone calls?

For starters, they have a wealth of wing tip options. This makes it easy to get a solid seal and during testing they offered one of the most stable seals and fits I’ve ever had on a set of true wireless earbuds. A rating of IP68 means these earbuds are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand, and are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes. Another small design addition worth highlighting is the raised surface around the L and R to help identify the buds—it’s a nice touch for visually impaired users in particular. SurroundSense takes noise-canceling a step further and solves the problem of not being able to hear ambient sounds while running – a safety concern for many when running in urban environments, myself included.
