Blade & Bow Helps With Placing Swank In Your Bourbon And Ponies - Tasty Bites Journey on A Bourbon Traveler’s Race Season Guide A refined balance of rich fruit and gentle smoky notes. Amber gold in colour with aromas of vanilla spice, citrus and a hint of sea spray, followed by cinnamon, pears, pecans and toffee fudge in the aftertaste. The nose and the taste lineup. The taste starts with the soft peat smoke, and then the wave of vanilla washes over you. Regular readers have most likely read our review of Jura Elixir Single Malt Whisky Review, and you’ll know that it got a 5-star rating. But that leads us nicely to the Jura Journey Whiskey.

Extra Information of Whiskey Misconduct In 2023 - Tasty Bites Journey on Scarce, High End Bourbon Drives American Scandals I bought some Islay once, a whole bottle of it. took me 3 years to get through it, if it had been purple I might have had a clue…first taste straight out of bottle was a little wersh as many whiskies can be. a little air and a teaspoon of o2 and its transformed. it took many years to make so give it a little time in the glass. Journey is a new no-age-statement release from the island-based Jura Distillery. It’s aged entirely in ex-bourbon barrels, but otherwise details are scarce. It’s not only that the expressions changed, the whisky itself is now using a combination of peated an unpeated spirit across the entire lineup. No more exclusively unpeated or peated Jura in the core line up. It’s quite a bold move, ain’t it so?

The palate changes the calculus a little, as the rolling granary notes and a moderate punch of alcohol evoke a high-class blended Scotch. A bit of lemon peel, some cut hay, and a modest nougat character add some needed nuance, but all is in service of the significant bill of granary notes. The finish sees some caramel apple- and banana-driven fruitiness, but it never strays far from the course. The fade-out sees a touch of smoke as a reprise. It is whisky" is about as praiseworthy as I can be about the Jura Journey. I detected no smokiness and virtually no fruitiness. It falls between two stools and is overshadowed by both. Why? Well, because after those initial heavy hitters, you’re treated to damp wood, buttery apples, toffee, nectarines, and smokey pears. Color stone fruits and nuts in this; a bit of charred oak too. quite decent now and for price a very good whisky.. stars relate to quality at priceJura is not very peated and is more like a regular highland malt than its island neighbours. So I suggest Highland Park, Dalwhinnie and possibly Oban which are not too dissimilar in style. I don’t really like Jura much actually, and don’t think it a patch on those three, at least for the style.
