Regardless of whether or not you replace the RAM, this laptop is a solid performer, especially considering the price tag. Can I add 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4 3200MHz to the unit ? If I can, what is the BIOS setting for RAM on Lenovo Legion 5 Pro RTX 3070 8GB (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU) ? The BIOS setting support XMP tweak/setting or not ? The BIOS setting support 1.2V or 1.35V or both voltages for RAM installation ? How do I access the BIOS setting for RAM installation ? Advanced BIOS option ? Can I install Crucial 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL 16 1.35 V RAM and get full speed 3200MHz CL 16 ? How about Kingston HyperX 64 (2 x 32GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL 20 1.2V RAM ? Kingston runs at 3200MHz CL20 1.2V on the laptop ? The Legion 5 Pro missed the eight-hour mark in our battery rundown, conking out hours before both the Predator Triton 300 SE and Alienware m15 R5 and nearly an hour before the Razer Blade 15. It easily outlasted the huge Alienware m17 R4, but you aren't likely to lug the Lenovo on the road with much frequency.

The maximum temperature on the upper side is 42.6 °C / 109 F, compared to the average of 40.4 °C / 105 F, ranging from 21.2 to 68.8 °C for the class Gaming. I also did some testing in some games. I took some in Performance mode with OC, Quiet mode with again in Performance OC mode with my upgraded RAM: Ryzen 7 + RTX 3070 130W W (~6 h 21 min of use)– 1080p Youtube fullscreen in Chrome, Better Battery Mode, screen at 70%, Wi-Fi ON, screen set to 60Hz; This Legion 5 has an 80Whr battery, which is a pretty decent size. I’m sure it’s to be consistent with the other Legion models, but it would have been nicer to utilize that extra space and beef it up to 99Whr.As for external temperatures of the chassis, I took a number of measurements while using the laptop normally, and again while gaming for an extended period. See below for my results: The Legion 5 Pro utilizes a unique cooling solution, consisting of a mixture of large heatsinks, some heat pipes and a pair of large fans. It works well, as it tames the Ryzen 7 5800H better than most of the other Ryzen laptops I’ve been testing.

Below the keyboard is a large touchpad. It's centered below the keyboard, making it look offset to the left when you consider the number pad. I found its positioning felt natural, and its matte finish allowed for smooth gliding and accurate recording of gestures. You can press the F10 key to disable the touchpad when using an external mouse. Can't share the exact settings since I no longer have the unit. If I recall correctly though, I used the default settings on music and adjusted the equilizer to have more of a bell curve. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. It’s not a huge deal-breaker, as it only moves my mouse pointer a little every now and then. But it is annoying – it’s not like I have this problem on other laptops. Your mileage may vary depending on the size of your hands though.

The 80 Wh battery can manage decent battery runtimes, but it depends on the GPU. When the Nvidia GPU is running and the hybrid mode is deactivated, we record up to 5 hours in our Wi-Fi test and 1:45 hours under maximum load. Competitors with working graphics switching obviously have an advantage in this respect. I’ve tested the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro in 13 games at all setting levels with 2 resolutions, compared it against other laptops and tested screen response time to show you how well it performs in games! Many consider the 2020 Lenovo Legion 5 the best-value gaming laptop of its generation, especially in the AMD Ryzen variants with higher-tier graphics. However, those configurations were not available worldwide, and only topped at Geforce 60 mid-level graphics, which did not suffice for some potential buyers.

Thanks a lot mate, I'm now too curious after watching another review on the new 2021 Legion 5 though. Don't know if is too stupid to get the 2020 right now, instead of waiting couple of weeks! Yes, it is real. There was even s better offer in another finnish store couple of weeks ago where Lenovo Legion 5 pro cost 1279 euros. And that version had QHD display and RTX 3070 with 140W. The offer you linked has only FHD display and the 3070 video card is ”only” 130W version. W (~6 h 10 min of use)– 1080p Netflix fullscreen video in Edge, Better Battery Mode, screen at 30%, Wi-Fi ON;The only weakness in this keyboard is the flex in the chassis. I did notice quite a bit of flex, particularly around the D and F keys. It’s probably because I strike there the hardest. It doesn’t interrupt how well I type, but it is annoying to see(especially if you’re the type to look at your hands while typing).

The IO is mostly lined on the rear of the 5 Pro, like on all the other Legion models. There’s everything you’ll need here, except for Thunderbolt support or a card-reader. In fact, you’ll only get a card-reader on the 17-inch Legion 5, but not on any other 2021 Legion. As a side note, the specs hint that USB-C charging is now supported by both the Legion 5 and 5 Pro lineups, unlike with the 2020 generations.
