About this deal

It is very inspiring to read this story, because it shows how one person could see what his mistakes were, learn how to fix them, fix them and then become a brand new man. I feel jipped , I had HOPE that some wisdom was going to be related and I don`t think there was enough , especially considering the story one had to suffer thru to recieve this weak wisdom.

Awakened by dark dreams one night, Dan found himself at a gas station with an old man named Socrates, and his world was changed forever. In the recurring dreams, one particular face stands out, a white-haired person, who can unravel the knots. in my mind warriors do not have to be paragons of physical discipline and strength - a warrior is anyone who moves beyond the flow of the worlds illusions in whatever form they take. Granted that you may, in fact, experience the mind of a warrior on occasion; resolute, flexible, clear, and free of doubt.

I think I do want to read some more self help books to see if I may glean some bits of wisdom that may help me in my goal.A motorcycle accident puts his training on hold and kicks him out of the Qualifiers for the Olympics. Inspirational and spiritual This autobiographical novel is one of the most beloved spiritual sagas of our time. This one came to me by way of a tough old Brooklynite with a self-assured bravado more persuasive than a million book reviews. Dan begins to explore the wonders of the cave and is finally able to see what Socrates has been telling him for so long. The central concept of "Soc's" philosophy is this: that one must live entirely in the present moment.

Durch die besondere Erzählweise bleibt es teilweise unklar, ob die geschilderten Ereignisse in der Realität, in einer Traumwelt oder als innere Erfahrungen stattfinden. All these years I had been sustained by an illusion--happiness through victory--and now that illusion was burned to ashes. The mind is an incessant internal narrative of images, sounds and feelings which act to distract you from the only thing that exists; the here and now. To that end we need to examine our minds, question our conclusions, and seek out new ways and methods.

If I was to give this book a rate, a rate from one to ten, it would probably be within the eight range. It is a good life lesson, and it uses powerful words and sayings that help the reader better understand the importance of the book. No one knows whether Socrates really existed, as he only exists within the writings of Plato, his pupil.
