Our vodka is distilled in small batches using our copper pot still, which gives our spirit a silky smooth finish and uses the purest water of the lion's river in the hills of Kwazulu-Natal to blend our Vodka to ensure sensational quality. This sweetness was noted by testers, but the prominent notes of lemon peel keep this smooth spirit well balanced.

They have established the Vusa Foundation, through which they commit to donate a proportion of their profits to support the Khulisani Foundation. The bow-tied elephant in the room is the Martini (shaken, not stirred), and here it is open season; if you prefer a creamier character, then deploy a potato vodka. Different flavoured vodkas are also in development using traditional ingredients, like baobab, marula (a fruit from the elephant tree), coffee (using cascara, the outside of the coffee bean which is often discarded to be as sustainable as possible), and more. This multi-award-winning vodka is clearly well-made – and deliciously balanced with its organic blend of barley, wheat and rye. It’s produced in a distillery just outside of Kyiv, which is known for its black “super soil” — which they say results in a more rounded flavour profile.

Our panel – made up of 10-accredited spirits experts and vodka-loving consumers – put 20 vodkas to the test. Vusa is donating a portion of its profits from this vodka to the Khulisani Foundation, which supports urban farming in South Africa.
