In terms of signal loss, this is in addition to the slight insertion loss the input signal has when it enters the splitter’s input port. i have the Hub 3 and a Tivo, if they are upgrading for free I'm interested as they were doing it about 3 years ago, we were in the throes of moving house and didn't any more disruption at our old place. The bottom two cables aren't plugged into anything so presumably can be removed, and the top one is attached to a blank socket in the wall - no idea what this leads to but thought it might have been related to Virgin TV cabling as the previous owners didn't have an aerial and therefore had to rely on Virgin's cabling. I'll probably have to give it a go and see what happens, otherwise phone Virgin up (perhaps they can provide tne a different splitter and alter the signal strength) - I definitely need to move one of the boxes to another room anyway, so a reroute is required there. As the Hub starts up, it will need to install the latest software, so leave it for about 30 minutes.

I've done this so I can have Satelliete TV (either freesat or sky) in 5-6 locations - I'm wiring two co-ax per triplex module (for watching and recording sat TV and if required, freeview). Yes, you can replace the existing 2 way coax signal splitter for a 3 way splitter, but If not using the feed in the dining room then you can simply use the split that would had facilitated a feed to that room to facilitate one to your bedroom i. Splitting or dividing a coaxial cable to provide signal to multiple devices is a straightforward task that mainly involves attaching your existing cable to a splitter device, and running separate coax cables from the splitter to receiving devices like your TV.g., you get a six-way splitter when you only need to connect two TVs or devices to your antenna), or if the splitter is of cheap quality, then you may be losing more signal than you need to. If you remove the splitter from the outside of your house and use that in the loft and connect the incomming feed from outside to the forth cable using a barrel connector it may work, the only way is to try it and see. However, someone suggested that I should be wary of doing this in case it disconnects the other flats' connections.

I had thought that the coax cable that comes from the VM feed for the second Tivo can drop down through the same hole from the main living room (where it currently enters through a hole that takes the first coax) and into the same cupboard where I could then put some sort of distribution in. Well went and purchased the 33pc Torx security set and they don't work or maybe there just the wrong ones and my side cutters are a tad to large. We and our partners use data for Personalised ads and content, ad and content measurement, audience insights and product development. I had an old Virgin Box (think it was the TiVo) and had an HDMI splitter that sent the image to two TVs simultaneously - worked fine. Haven't got a clue what or where the black is going but going to have a stab at an extension for TV to another room or least favourite a coaxial cable (normal TV aerial cable) but what's it doing connected there?Back downstairs, with the other box, tried both the cable modem and tv box on the second output, but got no signal. The phone also starts life in the NTL box on the outside wall - it's just routed along the outside of the building before coming in through the office wall. After 5 days, your old Hub will stop working and you won’t be able to use your broadband until you plug in the new Hub.

Not at all—you don’t need to use all the ports, but don’t forget that all ports on the splitter will cause some signal leakage (but most likely not enough to affect your signal). I didn't want to start a new thread solely on the Tivo Magic Eye solutions as there are plenty of those around (I've read a dozen threads already) but I can probably take the RF modulator out of the equation there as I would be running HDMI from Tivo to TV. I will be having a second box so the cat 6 matrix won't be how I want to distribute it as I want the second box to be independent of the first. Not being familiar with the exact hardware you are talking about I cannot actually understand what it is you want to achieve? I want to know if I can get rid of the first box and just plug the main cable coming in to the house straight in to the 2 way splitter?Conversely though, you may use a splitter rated for satellite TV for signals from your OTA TV antenna. No, it’s part of the terms and conditions that you need a Virgin Media technician to move Virgin Media equipment. The Virgin Media STB only has one output point which is already in use to connect the TV, STB and DVDR. The cable will be buried in your front garden at a shallow depth, so you need to remember the track of the cable when you are gardening. Anyway, for that many boxes I'd suggest having Virgin do the installation as oposed to a self install.

If you use a very fine HSS drill bit, once you are part way in, you might be able to put the drill slowly into reverse and unscrew it that way. If you ask nicely the installer may even terminate your cable for you with compression fitting F connectors, although they are supposed not to use cabling other than the cables they themselves install. Then, choose a place that's within reach of your Virgin Media wall socket – and out in the open, away from other cordless gadgets. If you have the TiVo box with the TV package, you will find that the same cable fits the Virgin Media Hub. I've come a little unstuck however - If I replace that splitter outside (as I'll only need and in and out to the house given I'm taking the second box from the loft as opposed to outside the house) what do I replace that with? I had the whole house wired with CAT 5 (I think) and connection points in each of the rooms upstairs and also my kitchen diner. you can leave the upstairs(ex broadband)live and use as a tv aerial, you will need a belling adaptor(maplins) to connect to your tv, its just a stupid screw in silver thing.
