It would've been more interesting if the characters made smart decisions and still found themselves in dilemmas. Iranian American author Mafiri adds many touches of her heritage in the naming of the characters, in setting details like the city's public baths, and in the mythology of the Jinn. It’s not a very fast-paced book, and except for the finale, there wasn’t a whole lot of action either.

It's also true that this book is quite good at taking clear and logical storylines and elevating them language-wise to a level so esoteric they are rendered ineffectual.Readers can compare the class system and king's rule with real kingdoms of the past and how they functioned. Shatter Me is her first series, with television rights optioned by ABC Signature Studios; Furthermore, her first middle grade novel, is on shelves now, and Whichwood, its darker companion, will be on shelves November 14, 2017. I know this book just got released at the time of me writing this review, so I'm actually going to put a lot of care into this review and state my case as to why I believe it deserves my terrible rating. Story of a boy who finds his father's severed head and tries to commit suicide and a girl who watches her mother burn to death in a house fire.

this is a Persian YA fantasy through and through and i’m glad to see that Tahereh is finally embracing the culture and not writing for the white gaze anymore. It's even beyond exciting to take an adventure in Persian Fantasy world with giddy romance among the sun ☀️ sand, and sea and Mrs. This is definitely not slow burn but more love at first sight but oh wow that first kiss was amazing. Now let me give you a more accurate, spoiler-free synopsis: set in a patriarchal society, this novel is about an obnoxious, spoilt princeling who, through the course of the book and by meeting a “speshuuul” girl destined to become KWEEEN and overthrow his family, realises that monarchy is an unfair class-based system profiting off the hard, underpaid, and often unpaid, labour of the working classes. The steam level is 1/5 but I hope it’s more in the next book because this reader needs all the spice.Published in 2022, This Woven Kingdom read like a novel that came out and should have been forgotten about in 2012. The soaring domed ceilings glimmered from high above, a mirage of infinity that seemed to reach the heavens.

I went into this with high expectations just because shatter me is one of my favourite series of all time and I was positively surprised. Still, there's quite the payoff at the end, with such a stellar cliffhanger for Book 2 that readers will be dying to dish out the spoilers.
Inside is a well thought out world with vivid descriptions, alongside a beautiful cover and nice details of flowers at the start of each chapter page. If you love books, travel, creative projects, or learning some sweet blogging tips and tricks, you’re in the right place! How--how can you even say such things," she said, her hands beginning to tremble, "on an evening you are meant to choose another as your bride? First and foremost, I would like to thank myself and my inner strength that have allowed me to push through, read this book until the end, and not abandon it 20 pages in.
