About this deal

Find out how people lived in the London of 1666, how they coped in the aftermath and all importantly, whodunnit! There are not many services I would pay to subscribe to, and even less I would recommend, but yours is one which I did! Spectacular illustrations by James Weston Lewis at every turn of the page and a topic that's certain to become even more popular in schools later this year with the 350th anniversary of London's Great Fire: a recipe for success if ever there was one.

Images to Inspire – A huge collection of inspirational images that can be used as the starting point for learning.Based on the true story of the village of Eyam's 1666 decision to cut themselves off from the world and contain the spread of the Plague from neighboroughing towns, A Parcel Of Patterns is a love story about two people who are separated when they are quarantined in separate areas for protection. Although he claimed to have extinguished the fire, three hours later at 1am, his house was a blazing inferno. Halfway through, I began to be bored by the characters, quite annoyed by some actually, and started to wonder just what the point of the story is. Samuel Pepys, a man who lived at the time, kept a diary that has been well preserved – you can read it in full here.

I’m not on social media but just wanted to reach out and say I have been recommending you to everyone I know, with kids of course! The Great Fire of London’s preface is a scenario based on Little Dorrit, but artfully falsified by an inauthentic sentimental climax. It's important that children gain an initial idea of the historical topic at hand before delving deep into the event in time.

Spenser Spender’s twentieth-century Circumlocution Office is found in the shape of the Film Finance Board. This book takes the dramatic historical information surrounding the Great Fire of London and transforms it into a breathtaking story that will transfix readers of all ages. Simple text and an engaging story make this an excellent introduction to the Plague for KS1 and early KS2 readers.

The site, along with its fabulous resources, are created by Mark and Helen Warner, who have many years of experience working in schools and love sharing fantastic teaching materials with teachers around the world!Next, children can be handed out things like labelling worksheets, cut-and-stick timeline activities or mind maps.
