About this deal

Tucked away in the sand dunes behind Godrevy beach, you won’t find a better backdrop for your cream tea - and with a whole host of outdoor seating options, it’s the perfect place to head when the sun shines. Charlie has a new helper on her bus, her free-spirited and loveable cousin, Delilah, who’s paid a visit to the charming Cornish village of Porthgolow and is helping out on Charlie’s adorable cream tea bus. Library assistant Thea, and her friend Esme were due to visit on holiday, but when Esme is unable to come, Thea decides to carry on with the holiday on her own. When I think of Thea's first day on holiday, to how she develops over the course of her stay, I can't help but feel proud of her! Each of this series could be read as a stand-alone but they are all so welcoming there is no reason not to read them all.

Baking fanatic, Charlie Quilter, inherits a vintage bus in her late uncle’s will and is keen to give it a new lease of life. Nestled amidst the ancient farmland of West Cornwall – not to mention a stone’s throw from the popular surfing beach at Sennen– Apple Tree Café has been providing visitors with a warm and welcoming atmosphere in which you can enjoy some superb local grub. The glorious coastal descriptions had me from page one and didn’t relinquish their grip until the final page. This was up there as my second favourite in the series and I highly recommend this for those looking for an uplifting romance with Cornish charm to take away on your holibobs or to enjoy on your staycation this year. As soon as she pulls up at Sunfish Cottage with its uninterrupted panoramic sea views Thea feels herself start to unwind but that’s not to say her time away will be all smooth sailing. Here we round up our favourite places – from Falmouth cafes to luxury hotels – to enjoy a cream tea in Falmouth. We've picked our favourite food and drink recipes this autumn and we can't wait to share them with you. Part of this author’s Cornish Cream Tea series, this is book can be read as a standalone, previous characters are mentioned but they in no way distract from this current storyline. It is more a holiday checklist of things that she was meant to do with her friend Esme, but with her having to stay behind due to a work emergency, Thea is flying solo. Of course, Thea is angry and upset and you can tell she is not looking forward to spending so much time on her own but still she will make the best of the situation.

Ben isn’t very welcoming to begin with but the more time that Thea spends with him she quickly realises that under that grumpy exterior there is a gentle and kind soul. She comes across Ben the builder and she can't get away from him, since he owns the property there, and he is busy doing it up. Since then, visitors have come to South West England to relax and indulge in the local tearooms and cafes and enjoy this delicious afternoon treat. I mean I’m already eagerly awaiting the next Christmas one as it sounds amazing and I can’t wait to see Thea’s next chapter!

In Cornwall, it was traditionally served with a ‘Cornish Split’, a sweet white bread roll instead of a scone. This waterside beauty is making itself at home on both our list of the best beach cafés in Newquay and the best cream teas in Cornwall because of, well, the cream teas! Thea is not about to miss out on the holiday she had been looking forward to, so she decides to pack her bags and holiday solo.

The focus shouldn’t be on the Devon vs Cornwall debate but whether delicious, fresh local ingredients are used and certainly no whipped cream! Especially Swallowtail House, the rambling but empty country house that seems to look out at her each time she passes it’s shut-up windows. The Cornish believe that the jam should be applied to the warm scone first and then a dollop of clotted cream on top. Even though her own life has been turned upside down and she’s had to rent out her charming Cornish cottage with its climbing roses and lavender beds, Ellie is determined to give them a day to remember. Positioned opposite the National Maritime Museum down on the harbour, it’s a great spot to enjoy a Cornish cream tea. There is a lot of summer to come between now and then, however, and how about taking a little vacation to the beautiful, magical county of Cornwall. Or if you’re feeling extra fancy why not book in for an afternoon tea, which you can enjoy in the garden, the drawing room or on the bridge, which looks out over the gardens.

It’s also believed that it originated from when jam was expensive, so you’d only put a little on top. After your button-popping meal, you can walk off the lashings of clotted cream with a gentle saunter along the nearby cliffs– it’s a lovely way to finish your Cornish cream tea. Cressida has bought to life the most wonderful characters - and she sure knows how to create a leading man! The people of Devon believe their method makes the most sense as cream is like butter and you wouldn’t put butter on jam, plus you can get more cream on the scone if you put it on first. New characters have been introduced yet there’s still time for some old favourites and I loved seeing Charlie and Daniel again.Surrounded by the beautiful coast that makes up the Lizard peninsula, and only a stunning walk away from the popular Kynance Cove, Polpeor Café is a jaw-dropping spot to settle down for a bite to eat. But I think the series has become so well established and we have even moved away from the original setting, although not too far, that perhaps the title is slightly misleading at this stage.
