There are a few short dream sequences throughout Isla's tale, and while they do fit into what's happening in the real world, I felt that a couple of them interrupted the flow of writing and unnecessarily complicated things.

Although I think it ended perfectly and just right to make me bawl my eyes out, I couldn’t help but wish for insight on the lives of the characters during and post trial. Isla's story of survival as she gets through the emotional struggle and family drama shows how strong she is for a 13-year-old. i read stolen 5 years ago when i was 14, and it changed me, ever since 2018 i read it at least 3 time per year, im obsessed, i even got the first sentence of the book tattooed on me. the atmosphere created was immaculate, it resembles the eerie summer vibes that Girls by Emma Cline gives and i loved it.

She even imitates Isla’s behavior, but does not seem to know how to fly back to the rest of her flock.

There is another thread about Isla's grandfather, her father's father, who has an intense fear and dislike of hospitals after having lost his wife to an infection she picked up while being treated in one. Of course as with most sixteen year olds Gemma wanted a few minutes off on her own so she asks to go get a coffee, what could possibly happen right? Every character is detailed and interesting, and Harry and Isla's romance friendship literally made me squeal and sob and scream at the walls. I just finished this book and I need to take some deep breaths and calm down a little- alright, here it goes! But then again, sometimes the open ended ending really is the best, because you are always rooting for the patient to pull through and for the romance to continue, but as Lurlene McDaniel has proved, there is just something about death that can also make a perfect ending, because it is sad, beautiful, and reflects reality.
