Then, of course, there’s the small fact that the Quest 2 supports Oculus Link, meaning you can plug it into your gaming PC via a single cable and play games from your Steam library. Whether slingshotting birds at pigs in Angry Birds, hitting blocks with a light saber with Beat Saber or shooting live players in Dead and Buried II, the Oculus Quest rarely faltered during play.

The Meta Quest 2 may not be the best VR headset in terms of specs, but it strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and performance to make it a more viable option for most people than a Vive Cosmos or PlayStation VR 2 headset. The Meta Quest 2 has access to all of the same games and applications as the original headset, and all of your purchased software should transfer over with your profile if you’re upgrading. The Oculus Quest 2 is one of the best VR headsets available for both beginners and seasoned VR veterans alike. However, there are still lots of great games than can run on the Quest, with the extra grunt ensuring a smoother performance and generating more pixels to take advantage of the 1832 x 1920 per-eye resolution – that’s a higher pixel count than the more expensive Vive Cosmos and Oculus Rift S VR headsets.

While the battery of the headset won't get you much playtime (2-3 hours, from experience) it sure does give me plenty of time to play wirelessly before plugging in the nonintrusive cable, trick for those wondering - play with the cord plugin into a wall behind you, and run the cord between your legs up to the headset, you won't even notice the charging cord there.

Unlike other headsets that require additional equipment, external sensors or a lengthy set-up process, once the Quest is charged up you can be up-and-running within a few minutes thanks to an easy set-up within the Oculus mobile app. With the Guardian set up, you’ll then be shown how to (optionally) use your hands to navigate menus, instead of using the controllers. There are many free games and you can demo a lot of the games before purchasing them, and this is something I really liked. These could be home videos, movies, or TV shows that you want to watch in VR using a media player app. There are hundreds of separately-sold Oculus Quest games– and some free ones too – available to play with the headset, including everything from shooters to puzzle games, fitness titles to meditation apps, there truly is something for everyone, even if levels of quality – and comfort – can vary depending on what you're watching and playing. Load times were quick, virtual environments were immersive and the motion tracking was near-perfect. Having said that; the picture is very clear and seems a little better than the Rift, but not by much. This is great when wanting to follow a player or when wanting to help out those new to the VR experience. YouTube VR is the best of the three – not only does it let you sit inside 360-degree videos and access the wealth of content uploaded to YouTube, it generally feels sharper, and gives you the option of pulling its massive screen closer to your seated position, as if you were at your very own personal IMAX screening.

That's because it isn't the latest processor from Qualcomm, but it is a step up from the 821 in the Oculus Go. You're reminded it's there really subtly as you play with a grid that fades in and out as you approach it. While I watch videos and movies and TV shows, the audio is great, the screen is great, and the feeling of a ginormous TV in front of you is great. The overall design of the Quest is lovely, but it's the untethered freedom and relatively compact design that’s the real draw here.

With the greater power of a PC at hand, the Quest is capable of taking advantage of some really impressive adventures, such as the god-stomping Asgard’s Wrath and mind-blowing Lone Echo 2. These velcro straps are attached to a rubberized, triangle-shaped headband that covers the back of your head. This is thanks to two motion controllers, which look like the older Oculus Touch with some minor design tweaks, as well as sensors located on the sides of the headset.

Now you can play PC steam VR gaming with the use of Oculus link cable, so its a standalone headset as well as pc headset as well. Oculus Quest launched on May 21, 2019 and is now available in 22 countries, including the UK and US.
