About this deal

When his music teacher vanishes, putting a halt to Humza’s rapper dreams, he’s determined to figure out what’s going on – and then things start to get really crazy. When strange things start happening at his primary school – staff mysteriously disappearing and being replaced by an army of food obsessed aunties he and his friends Wendy and Omar decide to find out why. Among all the many laughs in this book, there's some quite serious reflection on parenting and how to be true to yourself. You're a comedian for adults, so how much of a challenge was it to make sure your jokes and dialogue were suitable for a younger audience in this book?

His Auntie has stepped in as substitute, and nobody seems to care about the unorthodox teaching because of the endless sweet treats. Humza Khan is the greatest eleven-year-old rapper Eggington has ever known: he is Little Badman and he is destined to be rich and famous. Here, we’ve shared the afterword from the book, which provides a more detailed overview of the historic event, written by Swapna Haddow. With the help of his elderly Uncle and friends Umer and Wendy, Humza discovers that the suspicious Aunties might not be as friendly as they seem.

It was a lot of fun working together on Little Badman, we have the same sense of humour, but he's a lot better at spelling then me! Such is Little Badman’s gloriously entertaining voice, which drives this school-set mystery and goes up a few notches when he’s in rapping mode (there’s no question that his rhymes are sick).

With the help of his friends Umer and Wendy, Humza must get to the bottom of what’s going on, and fast!Join our community to get personalised book suggestions, extracts straight to your inbox, 10% off RRPs, and to change children’s lives. Oh, and we haven't even mentioned the ancient magical orb causing havoc and very possibly leading to world destruction. When Henry and I first collaborated on material for older audience but as tastes go, we both love crazy, out of this world. The hilarious Humza Arshad, of Diary of a Badman fame, speaks to us about his new book Little Badman, the difference between writing comedy for adults and children, and the importance for children to see themselves reflected in the books they read. And thirdly (and this one was probably most important of all), Miss Crumble is, and always has been, super allergic to bee-stings.
