My favorite track, "Porco Rosso" by Joe Hisaishi, was delivered so beautifully it moved me and brought a smile to my face after a long time. The subbass region shows a good sense of depth and rumble while listen to songs like Bang La Decks “Zouka”, Lorde’s “Royals” and Massive Attack’s “Angel”. The earpieces are medium sized with an almost flat inner side to the earpieces and quite light, although they brim with good quality. I noticed the S12 pro has some extra treble tuning and while it is balanced fairly well the treble extension of the S12 pro means you get a full treble end with not much roll off. I am not affiliated with LetShuoer or any third person beyond this review and all these words reflect my true, unaltered opinions about the product.

Letshuoer S12 Pro in-Ear Monitor 14.8mm Planar Magnetic

As a non-professional reviewer, I aim to use simple terms that can be understood by both beginners and experts in the hobby. With a solid shell, good tips and an ear-filling design, the Letshuoer S12 Pro were excellent noise-blockers – which was to be expected. Having taken Music as subject during his "O" Level examinations in Singapore, baskingshark boasts nearly two decades of experience playing both the piano. Big heads, frustrated not to get their ideal sound, who decided to open up a company and create their own products – you know the drill.I have no affiliation with LETSHUOER and have not received any monetary compensation during or after writing this review. This is just a guess on my part but I am going to assume the newer pro version is what Letshuoer is pushing nowadays. I only previously noticed this in the IMR EDP Ace, I put the tone and decay of notes down to the acoustic chamber, it is not reverberation (a note repeating itself) it is the tail of the single note in fractions of seconds. Both the depth and the wideness of the stage are quite identical, since I couldn’t hear any remarkable difference.

Review: LETSHUOER S12 Pro - PLANARy Session - Headphonesty

Timbre is also great with a very naturally sounding presentation and only in very few instances does it sound particularly like “how a planar sounds”. To my ears, the bass boost on the Shanling M7 and Shanling UA3 gave the S12 Pros a subtle but welcome bass lift. For consumers who want to board the planar hype train, the S12 Pro are arguably one of the better sets to consider. In terms of gaming and watching movies, this IEM could be considered overkill for the vast majority of listeners. Its tuning caters to enthusiasts as it seems to be tuned to focus a bit more on its trebles which is more difficult to do than mids or bass. The upper midrange of the LetShuoer S12 Pro is pretty highlighted and dynamic, while it shows a slightly smoother overall response in this are compared to the original S12. Stage is wide open, and you can pinpoint things easily even on busy songs, it has good depth and height as well.

Hence, in terms of sonics, the S12 Pro are a chip off the old block, and I feel there is no impetus for existing owners of the original S12 to procure the Pro version. I paired them with Samsung galaxy note 10 Plus, Xiaomi Mi Mix and my Shanling M7 DAP, as my source, and for amplification variably, The HAA FEE HA11, TRI TK2, Fiio BTR5 and BTR7, Shanling UA3 dongle DAC/Amp, DD Hifi TC35C USBC adapter, the Littlebear B4X tube Amp paired with Taotronics Bluetooth DAC, Rod Rain Audio DAC/Amp paired with Xduoo MT604 tube balanced Amp, using mostly 2. Hz Timeless - To my ears, the 7 Hz Timeless have not grabbed my attention as much they did others, I still believe they are good and demonstrate good use of Planar Magnetic drivers, but for melodic presentation, they did not grab my attention.Instruments such like cymbals, hi-hats and snare drums are shown with an adequate grade of extension, authority and resolution. Regarding the latter, there’s some controversy about whether the drivers used in the Celest could be classified as legitimate planars, but that’s a tale for another time. As with the original S12, there is a chrome accented on the square protrusion on the face of the IEMs, rather like a top quality car with chrome trims.
