Hot Wheels Loop Stunt Champion is an awesome playset with an exciting dual-track loop and stunting mechanism that brings hours and hours of challenges and racing. I bought this because I saw a similar set from 1971 a guy had use to recreate a quarter mile to scale. Works great for that, but taking one star off because the first curve after the "launch" mechanism is tricky. I also use the dragstrip without the drop down, because some cars like a Hummer or Offroad truck do not fit beneath the flags and will hit it before getting out of the bay. A. We recommend using alkaline batteries with our products, as they are great for long-term use and help optimize performance.

I played around with the recommended set up of the track for the purpose of this review, and the car I tested out did seem to stay on the track more often than not, unlike some of the other reviews here. Other than that, the launching mechanism is nice because it is manual, so you don't have any batteries involved that would need to be replaced. You get a similar segmented 4-piece orange curve in this set, plus a non-segmented orange curve, and a nice manual car launcher for around 1. I primarily got this because Mattel doesn't sell their old Hot Wheel Track Builder curve piece anymore (a few years ago, it was the white curve labeled as Track Builder set F).This action-packed track set is a stunt lover's dream with a full 360-degree loop, four-speed launcher and a thrilling ring of “fire. I don't think this would keep my kids attention for very long if we didn't have other track to use it with, so keep that in mind if giving this as a gift. The launcher invites multiplayer action or can be used solo to experiment with unconventional stunts. Right now, one half of the set is at the top of our stairs (imagine a U-shape) with the downslope attached to a bunch of straight track pieces (not included) that go down the stairs. If the car has any space between the top of the back or the bottom, the launcher won't shoot it off correctly, which is a bummer because some cars are just useless. The lights are easy to predict, as you can see them coming down, and, worst of all, the finish line is not good at all. Kids experiment with force and technique as they launch their Hot Wheels® vehicles through the loop and flip onto the landing. The dragstrip was super easy to put together, but the flag and drop down stand each have a sticker you have to put on, which are annoying to line up straight but no problem. So you might want to consider a replacement flag for this set if you're serious about the hobby, but for children it should be fine.
