Jumping between time periods, Mara seamlessly ties the various timelines of the story together perfectly.

One of our most iconic childhood games receives a creepy twist as it becomes the gateway to a nightmare world. But they’ll need to use their eagle eyes when all the fun characters from the book come together in a big crowd at the end. Little one, so calm and so happy, the darkness of the night is yours like the darkness of your skin. As soon as I finished Hide and Seek I messaged my daughter to tell her that she needed to come back to the “library of mum” and read Hide and Seek! My only complaint is the abrupt ending to the novel; I wish we had received just a bit more "riding off into the sunset" context to wrap up what all we learned and saw along the way. This book is one belter of a crime thriller which I devoured in an afternoon, I just had to keep on reading I HAD TO KNOW THE TRUTH! but overall i'm totally happy with this reading and i recommend it to everyone looking for something spooky! I also found what the kids go through when they’re sucked into the Seeker’s game a little too torturous for my tastes. One of my all-time favorite tropes are games, or competitions, so when I heard the synopsis for Kiersten White's Adult Debut, Hide, I instantly added it to my TBR.

Justin is glad to have his friend Zee back after he went missing a year ago - but something seems off with him. The story reminded me of an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark and the Disney Channel Original movie Don’t Look Under the Bed. Joanna is determined to find out all she can about the little girls disappearance and the inhabitants of the close-knit neighbourhood are all eager to speculate. Daka Hermon does a great job keeping this book fast paced and enjoyable with just enough scary elements to earn it's horror spot. It has some really creepy imagery and the kids are put into some disturbing situations- but they learn how to overcome those situations by sticking together and facing them head on.Every kid's nightmare will be explored in this story, and many of them were ones I also had growing up. She appears to be a good person, but as her lies surface, I found myself curious about what she was hiding. Not a bit predictable like some in this genre can be - this one has everything you could want in a thriller.
