Adjustments have been made to account for spectral frequencies, allowing to more accurately track specific entities by fine-tuning the meter's reception. The Ghostbusters franchise consists of American supernatural comedies, based on an original concept created by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in 1984. It provides extra data channeling and shared processors to help distinguish signal types AND reboot speeds. The Ghostbusters were later featured in a lip-synching dance show including Beetlejuice on the steps of the New York Public Library facade at the park. Each has gone his separate way, except for Egon, who still lives in the Firehouse to monitor the containment unit, further his studies, and teach a class on the paranormal at a local college.

The music video produced for the song is considered one of the key productions in the early music video era, and was a No.S reads: "Bridget Gibbons; an energetic young woman who scores high on standardized psychic tests, and whose vibes are almost as accurate as a PKE Meter. It didn't feel like it would give the new cast the ability to plant a flag in these characters and in the franchise". Meter can be found on a desk in the Firehouse basement near the door to the sub-basement, next to several Stasis Mines modeled after the Extreme Ghostbusters traps. Meter's original configuration allowed the Ghostbusters to find a ghost at its active manifestation point or measure the general collection of P.

The original draft of the script written by Aykroyd was very large, compared to a "phone book" by director Ivan Reitman. Jason Reitman used the title " Rust City" during the development and pre-production stages to keep the project a secret. A specialty calibrated meter is kept on hand to keep a census on the ghosts in the Containment Unit.At the February 2015 Toyfair Diamond Select Toys revealed several figures in a new 7" action figure line based on the first movie. The full name of the device is a Psychokinetic Energy Meter, so named because its function is to detect the amounts of said energy and to direct the user to its location. Despite its development for spirits, it is possible for physical beings to harness this power in their minds. Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, Hudson, Weaver, Potts, and Moranis reprised their roles from the first film, and were joined by Peter MacNicol and Wilhelm von Homburg, among others.
