About this deal

But Nicks’ star turns on “Rhiannon” and “Landslide” revealed a darker mystique at the core of their easygoing sound and, as sudden success caused the long-term relationships within the band to disintegrate, their next release effectively invented a new genre: rock album as couples therapy. Their set, presented by Dave Symonds, features Rattlesnake Shake, Underway, The Green Manalishi and Stranger Blues.

Tension can be a great motivator for a band, and no group has put that maxim to the test quite like Fleetwood Mac, a ’60s British blues-rock outfit that—through a series of lineup changes, stylistic shifts and rocky internal romances—became the paragons of ‘70s Californian pop. Tonight, hear Fleetwood Mac (Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer) recorded at the Paris Theatre in March 1970, one of the earliest editions of In Concert. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.Fleetwood Mac was founded by guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist Jeremy Spencer, before bassist John McVie joined the lineup for their self-titled debut album. Performed live at L'Olympia Bruno Coquatrix, Paris on March 7th 1970, touring to support their album "Then Play On". BBC Four broadcasts some exclusive TV-only moments from classic In Concerts across the month and Radio 2 presenters are choosing their own favourite In Concert 50 tracks, to play during shows and in special programming on the station. And even as more streamlined ‘80s efforts like Mirage and Tango in the Night reasserted their pop panache, Fleetwood Mac have remained a cauldron of drama and intra-band acrimony, the principal members seemingly coming and going without warning. For In Concert 50, throughout November, Radio 2, BBC Sounds, BBC iPlayer and Red Button celebrate 50 performances from 50 years of brilliant pop music on the BBC.

Keyboardist Christine Perfect (later known as Christine McVie), who contributed as a session musician from the second album, married McVie and joined in 1970. In the wake of Buckingham’s departure in 2018, the group enlisted Crowded House singer Neil Finn and Tom Petty sideman Mike Campbell. But the band were eager to play against pop-star type—1979’s double-album colossus Tusk betrayed Buckingham’s affinity for post-punk, and though it was deemed a commercial disappointment at the time, it has since been embraced as a cult classic by discerning indie rockers. html" title="Fleetwood Mac Setlist Paris Theatre, London, England 1970, Then Play On" target="_blank">
