I saw The Paleblood Hunt being recommended to people who finished the game and wanted to understand it more and I was not disappointed. One would be hard pressed to find material in the book that they could not find in game or from YouTube videos that analyze the lore and aesthetics of locations in the game.To me, a great art book shows concept art and has interviews with artists and designers about the choices they made when designing in-game assets. I did not give this artwork full marks because it lacks some thought process and inspiration behind each of the individual artworks. While yes, you have to play the game for any of this to make sense or really mean anything to you (it very much reads like an essay, not like a novella) what Redgrave has pulled off here is nothing short of creative genius.
