I was a bit discouraged with the fourth book but I guessed that was more of a filler for some needed information. The author repeats the same ideas so many times that instead of emphasizing the message she wants to deliver, she diminishes it and, as a reader, annoys the h… out of you. I would’ve been fine with this if we knew from the start when we met Mor or had clues throughout but it was clear it was SJM making herself look better and made a change mid ACOWAR.

This collector’s edition is bound in purple, and it also has metallic gold endpapers and a beautifully redesigned map, as well as decorative chapter headings and page designs.I had to force myself to read the beginning of part 3 in ACOMAF – entire pages of the assumptions of a silly (do not want to say downright mentally challenged), selfish girl. Obviously it was detrimental when she lost Rhys and Amren but honestly losing the Suriel sent me more into fits than anything. Got to see some of Azriel’s thoughts surrounding himself (self hatred and disgust) and around Elain (tenderness, fondness, desires). He was only interested in her because it would help break the curse if she were to say "I love you" so it's really hard for me to believe that he actually had/has this much feeling for her.

I never really liked romantic books and when I started ACOTAR I didn’t even know that it was a romantic fantasy, my classmate just gave it to me because I had nothing to read. I am disappointed because it could have been an amazing series (high number of copies sold does not translate into high quality literature) but there are parts so, so badly written it made me cringe. However, both the UK and US editions clearly match the new US edition of A Court of Thorns and Roses, and internally the books are similar. She is supposed to be a sensitive, selfless person, but most of the time she comes off as extremely ungrateful, power-hungry, selfish and self-absorbed.By rejecting non-essential cookies, Reddit may still use certain cookies to ensure the proper functionality of our platform. The characters the author created were so complex and human-like (well, fae-like, I don’t know), you can’t help but fall in love with them.

Crescent City follows half-human, half-fae Bryce and includes the following books: House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath. If you like action-packed fantasy series, with a good amount of romance mixed in with found family and hilarious moments, this series is for you! Because come on Mor was flirting with Cassian a lot throughout the books and I definitely got vibes she liked Azriel and yeah flirting can be platonic but I just don’t think Mor being lesbian was planned. Maas includes A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, A Court of Frost and Starlight, and A Court of Silver Flames. Once we near the releases of her next ACOTAR books, we will absolutely let you all know what the future of the Velaris X ACOTAR series holds.By accepting all cookies, you agree to our use of cookies to deliver and maintain our services and site, improve the quality of Reddit, personalize Reddit content and advertising, and measure the effectiveness of advertising. I'm a little mad at this one though because of the huge plot hole that was the part with More visiting her manor and seeing Bryaxis but I'm hoping that will continue/get picked back up after ACOSF. Also can we mention how throughout ACOSF there was no chemistry whatsoever between Az and Gwyn and it was only mentioned after Rhysand said no. We get a glimpse of her true self after the Suriel spills the tea, when she (with Helion's power and the Suriel's knowledge) helps Rhys start healing but treats him like he was nothing, leaving him literally in the mud, although he had just been tortured, almost died, and was far from healing, because he kept 'things' from her. I would have dumped them to Hybern and let them manage on their own since they were so formidable and self-sufficient.

As to the 'steamy' scenes - I do not have anything against them, they are part of life and, if done properly, they can add value BUT the ones in the ACOTAR series are so crude, so repetitive, so badly done, as if they were written by a 17 years old guy, hooked on porn. It's not secret that this past year and a half I have been really struggling with a dark depression and trying to heal myself from it, so this book really touched me. i had known he was the "anti hero" or that grey character everyone would fall in love with his complexities. My family loves what we do and who we get to do it with, and we hope that transfers to your finished products; showering them in heaps of love! She left Rhys, her friend (mate or not), injured in the freezing mud and went off to HIS cabin to spend a few days painting and recovering (she was the one in need of recovery….These collector’s volumes of the first books in both series are lovely keepsakes and I highly recommend the US editions.
