About this deal

The Ryzen 4000 APUs are based on Renoir, a refresh of the Zen 2 Matisse CPU cores, coupled with Radeon Vega GPU cores. They were released only to OEM manufacturers in mid-2020. Unlike Matisse, Renoir does not support PCIe 4.0. [48]

AMD Ryzen 7 1700X vs Intel Core i7-7700K UserBenchmark: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X vs Intel Core i7-7700K

Full support for Ryzen processors' performance features in Linux requires kernel version 4.10 or newer. [100] Known issues [ edit ] Spectre [ edit ] This article evaluates AMD's Ryzen 7 1700X desktop CPU. We evaluated AMD's Ryzen 7 1700X and compared it to others to determine which provides the best value as a gaming CPU. We shaped our testing methodology to focus on each CPU's attributes rather than solely on benchmarks. AMD Confirms Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D Feature 3DV Cache on Only One of the Two Chiplets". TechPowerUp . Retrieved January 5, 2023. For our test setup, we dropped the Ryzen 7 1700X into a Gigabyte-made Aorus AX370-Gaming 5 motherboard, along with 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory running at 2,933MHz. An AMD Radeon RX 480 video card handled display output for our CPU-specific tests, and a Samsung SSD 750 EVO was the SATA-interface boot drive. We could have used a faster NVMe drive, but as we tested previous chips from Intel and AMD using SATA SSDs, we didn't want to drop in a speed demon and give the Ryzen 7 1700X an unfair advantage. SATA SSDs are still very respectable. AMD Ryzen 4000 Series Desktop Processors with AMD Radeon Graphics Set to Deliver Breakthrough Performance for Commercial and Consumer Desktop PCs". AMD. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X vs 7 1700X UserBenchmark: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X vs 7 1700X

Not everything here works in AMD's favor. These chipsets tend to have fewer PCI Express lanes and SATA ports than many enthusiast motherboard/CPU combos from Intel. The top-end AMD X370 chipset natively supports six SATA III ports and 16 lanes of PCI Express Gen 2 for speedy SSDs (on top of the 24 lanes of PCIe on the Ryzen chips themselves). Intel's X99 platform, in contrast, supports 10 SATA III ports and up to 40 PCI Express lanes hanging off the CPU. (The junior Broadwell-E chip, the Core i7-6800K, has "just" 28 lanes.) So, for those planning on shoving piles of drives and other hardware inside their systems, Intel's pricier platform will still hold plenty of appeal. But for the vast majority of users looking to drop in a CPU, one or two graphics cards, and a drive or three, AMD's offering should more than suffice—usually at a lower price point than comparable Intel-based boards. What do we glean from this? In short, the gaming performance of the Ryzen 7 1700X (and, indeed all of the Ryzen 7 chips) isn't as good as we'd expect at 1080p. But note that, as we mentioned earlier, AMD has been out of the high-end CPU realm for years, and we did our testing in the days around this processor's launch. Just as games aren't always optimized for brand-new graphics cards as soon as they launch (particularly if you happen to have a multi-card SLI or CrossFire setup), but are patched in the weeks that follow to deliver better performance, the same will likely happen on the CPU side of things—at least to a certain extent. billion transistors per 192mm 2 [27] 8-core "Zeppelin" die [1] with one die being used for Ryzen and two for Ryzen Threadripper. Ryzen 7 1700X - AMD - WikiChip

AMD announced a new series of processors on December 13, 2016, named "Ryzen", and delivered them in Q1 2017, [9] the first of several generations. The 1000 series featured up to eight cores and 16 threads, with a +52% instructions per cycle (IPC) increase over their prior CPU products. [10] Wagner, Jayce (March 20, 2018). They also run toe to toe with the i7 6950x at 1080p and 1440p resolutions. I have substituted the Intel i7 7700k results at 4.0 GHz in place of the R7 1800X just for comparison. The 1800X scores are right in line with it’s counterparts and I felt this would be a better representation of gaming performance. 1080p Gaming Results – Head to Head 1440p Gaming Results – Head to HeadGartenberg, Chaim (January 6, 2020).
