While there are times they do "make love", there are other times that were a bit extreme for me; like when he uses the barrel of a loaded gun (he had his reason and it accomplished his goal), but that scene made me uncomfortable. I'm not typically squeamish about kinky sex acts. I think it was just the fact that the gun was loaded that bothered me. (I kept wanting to yell, " What if you accidentally hit the trigger and the gun goes off!" Guess it's the Mother in me! LOL!) how OTT obsessed, JP, and PROTECTIVE Nikolai is👀! My path was always clear: escape Las Vegas, move to New York, live happily ever after as a professional ballerina. From his reputation, it’s understandable why Amara Bianchi was terrified of her soon to be husband through an arranged marriage. Okay, let's get the technical stuff out of the way first. Missing words, a "to" or "my" missing here, a "with" or "of" missing there a "want" missing somewhere else; Story inaccuracies, e.g., the author writes "...plays with herself the way Gabriel did..." except that Gabriel hasn't yet 'played with her' in that way up to this point in the story. And yet, this is not what bothered me in this story. In fact, this story is so intense that you're willing to overlook these errors. No one brings the sizzle quite like Jenika Snow! The dark, dirty talking alpha, the mafia danger, the panty melting chemistry, and a newly empowered heroine. Jenika always so perfectly marries the swoony and the smutty- and I gobbled this one right up! I was terrified of the lengths Nikolai would go to get what he wanted… to keep me as his, but despite all of that I felt something far stronger, far more dangerous.

We get a sort-of epilogue after the end of the book, but it ends so abruptly (for me). Then we get a chapter for the next book. Like… 🤔 what happened?? 😭😭😭 where’s my proper HEA 😩. Where are the babies I want them to have? 😭 lol I’m sure it’s like this because we’re going to get Dmitry and Claudia’s book and we’ll see them there, but stillllll 😐😭 This was an easy simple read with little angst the romance itself wasn’t that dark these two liked it rather rough but their connection together was sweet if you discount the fact that Nikolai will take anyone apart who dares even look at his wife sideways. He doesn’t change and Amara accepts him for exactly who he is. This did feel authentic as this is the only life she’s ever known so to her it’s all relatively normal and Nikolai does treat her like his treasure. There is so much angst in this story. So much has been kept from the H, secrets his allies refuse to tell him, but the more he discovers on his own, the more he begins to wonder if what he's been told is true or not. Like the H, you begin to wonder who are the real enemies and who are the ones he should trust. The not knowing as well as the situations they both get into leaves you on pins and needles throughout most of this book.
